I can't say I know of any place that still does that in the N.O. area and if there were, I would assume COVID shut them down for good.

Sushinami in Metairie. It’s the old Borders bookstore at Causeway and Vets. Pretty good. Order off the menu all you can eat.

Ombu in Marrero is traditional get it yourself buffet sushi.

One was on Williams Blvd. in Kenner

I believe it was called Little Tokyo and it was pretty good with a buffet that offered more than sushi.

you can’t be serious. That place was disgusting. My 75 yr old dad insisted on that whenever went to lunch…I’m pretty sure I saw a toenail on the food line counter one time

Little Tokyo

That was the first place I ever ate sushi, back in the 90s at their buffet.

One of the hardest things to do at Sushi Masa in BR is getting a second order in.

that's why you order 10-20 of each sashimi item on your first order

My 10 year old granddaughter wanted AYCE Sushi, there’s a place by the house. She did get her moneys worth, my daughter told me she ate a lite breakfast. The lady kept coming back asking, “ You want more?”

The place:

Normally a shade above supermarket style rolls, but fresh and comes with apps, sides etc…

If a rainbow roll is going to run you like $13 at rouses, or $15 at some cheap casual place you may as well hit one of these

Throw in a second roll, and some stuff around the edges and you broke even on money but the volume means it wasn’t from 8am the day prior. If you do 3-4 rolls you are way ahead on money

They opened back up as...Ombu? Volcano maybe?

They've got a decent spread. Boiled seafood at night.
