Many breweries locate in areas where there are no other attractions and minimal neighborhood support such as Urban South, Tin Roof (BR), Zony Mash, etc.

I would understand your point if they were deep in Central City, say Phillip and Magnolia, but they were 2 blocks from St. Charles Avenue with million dollar residential properties 1 block away. No one I hang with thinks their location was in any way scary. You wrote...

To boot they paid $675k for that building plus renovations. You’re talking a million plus investment for a brewery in central city. You’re banking on serious traffic to feed the bottom line

COVID screwed them, plain and simple. It wouldn't have mattered if they were on Magazine Street (at probably 2-3x the investment), a new business open less than 3 months before a forced shutdown for months was going to struggle, if not fail. COVID (and whatever else) did them in, not their location.

No doubt COVID screwed them. Goes without saying, it's screwing every business essentially.

Urban South

They are in a great area for a brewery, yes? Theyre on the right side of St Charles located on Tchop, a stones throw from countless other thriving food and bev places, including a few other breweries

Zony Mash,

Right, which is kind of my point and the opposite of what ARB did. Zony set up in a shithole off the beaten path, but they also didnt likely pour in a million plus dollars. They got barrels for tables, mismatched furniture, a building with a smaller footprint. It appears they are focused on organic growth, with the flexibility to move locations if it grows.

Not what I was suggesting at all. But if I handed you a boatload of cash to go build a brewery, are you spending 675k on a building in CC as a starting point? lol

I am not scared to go to central city but let's face it, it's on the news every night for the wrong reasons. On top of the crime, the demo of CC is old, black and poor. There was an attempt to make the OCH corridor a thing - Dryades Market, done. Toups, Primotivo, done. New Orleans Jazz Market is probably next. Mais Arepas is the only place that can survive out there apparently.

Have you been there? Their facility is humongous.

This. I could swing by Home Depot, grab food at Central City BBQ, and pick up beer from All Relations all in one trip that didn't take much time out of my day. That location was pretty easy to get to for me versus almost all of the other breweries as it wasn't deep in UPT/Tchoup or Bywater.

Good to know. I haven’t been inside, only rode by. It appears to actually be larger in sq ft than ARB

Of course being easy to get to is relative. But I don’t think they built that space out with the intent for people to swing by and pick up beers. I’m talking about being an attractive destination for on premise consumption. Of course they need both to survive

I can’t support a guy like Scott Wood.

If he wasn’t vomiting his virtue signaling politics everywhere, & ran It with an ounce of professionalism, maybe.

but that dude is a giant pussy.

Hard disagree. Miserable Louisiana summer heat on a cement parking lot in broken chairs.

In regards to courtyard, I could look past the “rustic” location and his political rants if he put out an excellent product but not for the yeast bombs he serves.

Also, AR had people in there doing inventory. It seems like they were liquidation type people. I can’t imagine they are sticking around which is terribly unfortunate.

Swung by and grabbed a bunch of Legit Snack, Speghetti Models, and Star Wipes at closing. Also grabbed a few packs of Job Money at Bin Q. Really sad to see them go.

Those guys were class acts; super nice and always friendly when I picked up my covid brews. I wish them luck and will be there to support them with any other nola endeavors they might try!
