Hope they’re able to make it back sometime...a juggernaut in the local beer scene here. And that tap room had a pretty cool vibe

They are elite at brewing beer

Hopefully they are able to latch onto So Pro’s distro (they are half owned by so pro owner) in the meantime until covid shutdowns are over

I blame Scott Wood letting people walk around his place without masks

On Baronne a couple blocks off MLK. Opened in Late November of 2019 so didn’t have much time before Covid shut down their taproom.

It is Run by the former head brewer at Other Half Brewing in Brooklyn, NY (Top notch on the national beer scene) and funded by the owner of Southern Prohibition out of Hattiesburg, MS

They're dead. Sounds like key people involved are moving on to much greener pastures.

All Relation was the closest thing to the beer you can get in New England, and it will be missed. COVID was the kiss of death, but it's not the only culprit in this.

That actually makes me feel less sad about it.

Someone explain this to me. How can a place that produces such a good product fail? Were they not selling enough “to go” beer? It seems like the prices to go were the same as if you drank on premise. It seems like if they were doing “special releases” every couple of weeks they would be able to push through a lot of beer. Do they have restrictions on how much “to go” beer they could sell?

As good as they were, not enough people were buying their beer. I ordered about once a week from them during COVID, and they did not sell out of new releases even over several weeks. Always beer available. Never anyone else picking up when I went there. It is probably hard when small and you can only sell 3-4 different beers.

One story was they wanted to get out and the Covid lockdown facilitates

Second would be they are not setup to profit with margins coming from distributors. .

That is how it seemed before covid too.

They may have been the best, but no one seemed to go there.

Might be oversaturation of the market. Seems covid hastened the impacts, but it was already happening city wide.

It pains me that Urban South puts out these crappy “special releases” that sells out in minutes and these guys couldn’t sell out theirs. Marketing is real.

I went two or three times pretty early on and their beer was top notch. The tap room left a little to be desired. Felt kind of small and not the most inviting place to sit and drink for a while but that's just my opinion. For a place that supposedly needed on premises sales to keep floating setting needs to be top notch. The neighborhood didn't make it a very inviting spot to walk to. Whereas courtyards old location was closer to the warehouse district and my friends in the LGD and it was a convenient place to convene. With AR I was never going to be "in the area" to pop in for a beer. This seems like a convenient time to cut bait and get out.

I have to think courtyard is hurting badly. New space that they paid to renovate just prior to the shutdown, then politics and production problems, and now another shutdown. Thats a hell of a squeeze and no real distribution to bridge the gap. The difference is that Scott has to stick it out while AR guys can wait for a better time and place to try again.

Interesting. I liked their tap room better than any other in the city.

Again it was pretty early on. I don't live in LA anymore so I would only get to pop in when in town.

I agree. I only made it there a couple of times but I thought the vibe and décor were great.
