I would in a heartbeat.

To anyone making this for the first time, something I never think about until after I’m done is that it’s better to add the nutmeg at the end to the individual jars. If you add it at the beginning, it tends to sit at the bottom and you’re left with a ton of nutmeg in the last jar.

I have, and it's delicious. I use St. Elizabeth Allspice Dram rather than making it. I've also doubled the recipe without problem. A tea towel worked well as a filter in a larger sieve when making the double batch.

I made a batch last year and gave some to my staff last Christmas. They liked it so much, they requested it again.

I had saved one quart of last years batch in my refrigerator and told them I would make another batch if they all agreed to taste last years batch.

They were a little scared to drink the one year old nog, but we all agreed it was incredible (and no one died). What time does to this nog is magical.

Bump. Partially as a self reminder.

Not quite a 6 month batch but 5 months will be fine.

I'll also be making 2 batches. 1 original recipe and the other subbing out the sugar for honey. On my reminder, I put on there to sub it with 1 1/2 cups of honey. No clue where I got that from but I'll give it a shot.

It was not as good with the honey and tended to separate. I'll stick with the original recipe.

I tried AB’s aged recipe for the 1st time this past Christmas. Just opened the mason jar to give it a try last week. HAVE MERCY

I put the rest back in fridge to cap off in another month or two. Will make more jars this season.

I think I will try this for the first time. Is a pound of sugar really necessary? Seems quite excessive...

The recipe is perfect. It makes a lot. Christmas is a celebration. Eat the cake. Have the sugar. Drink the booze.

It’s quite excessive. I use 60% of the sugar Alton does, and it’s still very sweet, but doesn’t flare up my diabetes.

I saw someone on the first page said it was a little metallic tasting between months 4-6. Should I wait another month or 2 or is 5 months fine?
