I've had 23 of those. The wife brought me back a growler of Pliny a couple months ago from her trip to San Fran. It's damn good.

New Glarus puts out a killer coffee stout every spring.

Not sure if I agree with this. I like them alot, and love the crazy in them, but I think their show last year (two years ago?) may have helped them out alot on this poll.

The brewery list is based upon the number of votes that their beers got in the best beer poll. There is no way that really small breweries have a chance to be higher in the poll, which on one hand makes sense but then on the other doesnt.

Yeah, smaller breweries and more rare beers had little chance because not as many people get to check them out. Most beer fans can get access to Dogfish Head, even in a place like Louisiana where it's not distributed it's not too hard to get a hold of.

And the same to all the rest of you who have been able to score some Pliny!

If you really want to try it, order some online. There are places that will ship it.

I actually tried twice, with two different sources. Both were out at the time. Since then I have been cautioned about getting that particular beer shipped as several had experiences with old bottles of it. That beer is known to have a fairly substantial taste change as it ages (as most heavily hopped beers do).

Yes that is true. If you buy from reputable places, they advertise when the Pliny was bottled. I will only buy from those stores. One such place was South Bay Drugs and Liquor in San Diego. Unfortunately they have been shut down for a while since they are changing store locations. When it's back open I intend to order some.

Good People's El Gordo better be on that list next year.

DFH 90 Minute is getting vastly overrated. To put that above Bell's Hopslam is ludicrous.

Agreed

If you want a good milt stout get the Duck Rabbit Milk Stout. Brewed in NC I believe.

I don't even really like that one. I have had some in my fridge for a year now.

Surprises me that Sam Adams is rated so high. Not saying I don't like it, cause I do, but usually whenever something gets as big as them there is a certain level of hate associated with them.

Anyway, not sure what I'm going to drink this weekend. Might see what kind of Sierra Nevada I can get a hold of.

They had better step up their production and distribution exponentially.

And even then you're not going to see any southern beers on there.

Really? I mean of the milk stout line it's one of the better ones. Having said that, it's still a milk stout.

It could be that I am simply not a fan of the style. I have not tasted too many examples.

10 out of 50 are Colorado beers. God I love living here! The Ska IPA Modus Hoperandi is my favorite IPA, excellent stuff. I enjoy the Left Hand Milk Stout but only on occasion. Oskar Blues is where its at!

I thought that Sam Adams Noble Pils was very meh. The couple I had didn't have much flavor at all. Go with Sierra Nevada Torpedo. Delish.

And Left Hand Milk Stout is as good as it gets for a milk stout, imo. I love that beer.

How often do y'all see Hopslam where you are? We get a good amount of Bells here in Atlanta, but I've never been able to find the Hopslam. Victory has a pretty good double - Hop Wallop - but I still want to taste Hopslam.

Why does it seem like some of the best beers are seasonal? I thought the sierra nevada double IPA from the "Beer Camp" variety pack was infinitely better than the SN Torpedo IPA. For some reason, the piney flavor of the torpedo is too much for me (seems to overpower even the hops).

That is the hops.

I guess the particular strand of hops they use in it has more of a piney aftertaste than other IPA's which still have some piney characteristics, but have a more crispy bitter than piney aftertaste(if that makes sense).
