Well everyone was spot on about Cafe Tango. I'm not going to give a review from my phone, but I'll give it a 4.8/5. That's only because our server forgot our bread. It's really a 5 though. Great place! For lunch, grilled grouper sammich from Stinky's.

We usually do at least one lunch at Basmati's. The taco bar in Seaside is a staple for us too. Since we're staying in Grayton for the first time I think we'll probably eat around there a bit more than usual.

ETA: As much as I want to go to Tango, we'll have our son with us and I don't want to be "those people".

color me jealous...we'll be there in about a month or so for our annual trip. We get in at around lunch time, so this will be the first spot we hit:

for one of the best grilled grouper sandwiches on the face of the earth

ETA: in case you can't tell, this is George's in Alys Beach.

Tango is SO good! We did the pizza bar at Bud and Alley's. It's great too if you're in the mood.

Welcome back Otis! When did you get out?

FWIW, there are several very reputable babysitter services in the area. I'm pretty sure most on this board know how I feel about tango. If there's any way I can eat there when I'm in the area, I'm gonna do my best to hit it up.

Sure enough. Thanks.

The guy was cool too. He gave us the Spring rate even though 6/7 days are in the Summer.

It's going to be great.

Ate at Fire tonight. It is no longer in Grayton Beach. They moved to Gulf Place on 30A which is a nice area just before Grayton. Tonight was their first night in the new location and it was a "soft" opening.

My GF and I both had the Panko fried green tomatoes with lump crabmeat for an appetizer, followed by a delicious Farmer's Market Salad, and the grilled grouper for an entree. Very fresh and unique flavors with all of these dishes. I believe we were one of the first couples eating at the new location. Very much recommended. For dessert we shared a Dried Date Sticky Toffee Pudding Cake which was also delicious.

Tomorrow night will be dinner at Cafe Tango. Looking forward to that too.

p.s. Grouper sandwich at Stinky's was great too. A lot of great information in this thread.

George's better for a lunch spot? The dinner menu looks good too. Just wondering the 'niceness' as relates to whether we can bring our son or not. I wouldn't worry about it for lunch, but I don't want to jam up people's nice-arse meal with my 5 year old (not that he's always bad).

I see they have a kid's menu, and we need to get down to Alys this time around.

ETA: A good sunset spot for apps and drinks, with the boy?

George's is definitely a good dinner spot. If we end up having to take the kids to dinner (we usually cook out for family meals and eat out for adult meals), we usually take them there or stinky's - just about every other table will have kids at it.

Alys is beautiful (if not unique)...my wife keeps trying to talk me into staying there on one of our trips. We'll likely do it sooner or later. I just don't like being on the north side of 30A.

As far as George's being a sunset spot for apps and drinks, I'm not sure. It's not on the beach, so you won't get the full effect. You may want to check out fish out of water (great outdoor seating on the beach - probably the best on 30-A) or the santa rosa beach club's new restaurant for that. Bud & Alleys is also an option. The roof top bar is great, but I'm not sure it'll work with a kid. I can't recall if you can get a good view downstairs or not, but B&A's food is very overrated and overpriced.

ETA: This sunset shot of george's looks pretty nice, though...

This must be why we've missed it, I don't think we've ever been.

We'll have to try this. Usually do B&As upstairs once, but last time I had to order my son a fillet and put it between bread. Wife had some good scallops, but I didn't even want to look at the bill since it was at the beginning of the trip.

I was hoping to spend more time around Grayton, but the food spots seem kind of sketchy. Dune Allen was awesome last year, Stinky's was right there.
