At Morganza has the water topped the Potato Levee at the lower structure letting water into the Forbay ?

Not sure about there, but News 2 did show that a good amount of water has topped Potato Levee at some point.

Maybe you can find something on their site?

What is the worst case, yet realistic, scenario for south LA?

ORCS fails and the Atchafalaya becomes the Mississippi. Total economic destruction for SELA and much of the farm belt.

Yes, the levees around BR haven't ever had this type pressure. A breach would be catastrophic.

but for New Orleans area?

The levee breaches in Harahan at the Colonial Country Club and potentially makes Katrina look like Romper Room.

All worst case sceanrios and VERY UNLIKELY to happen, but you had to fricking ask. FML.

Lol good thing you threw in that last line.

Was about to say....you were at a hysteria level 9...we need to keep it at around a 4.5 in this thread.

Why a breach in Harahan by Colonial as worst case? Just curious

my guess is it would flood from the river to the lake and from St Charles Parish line to the Orleans Parish line and beyond

It almost failed in 1973 and has for some reason always been a weak point. The river makes a bend there and all those Harahan guys have used it for a driving range.

I crossed it this afternoon. Water is coming into the forebay but it is still a good ways away from the structure. They appeared to be doing work to the guide levees on the Morganza side and 2 gates were up. They still had a herd of cattle on the floodway side.

I took this picture today of the old train bridge in Memphis. It's hard to get an idea of the power the river has until you are standing right over it. There is usually a lot more space between the river and the bridge.

My mom was in Memphis last weekend and said that the Wolf River is causing all kinds of havoc. My uncle and cousins are all worried about it. What are the news reports?

yea, i live out by where the wolf was causing problems. it was from runoff from all of the rain storms, but especially the supercell that caused so much damage in Alabama. All of it has receded and the Wolf is actually falling. At least out East. I guess where the Wolf meets the MS in N. Memphis things are backing up, but that is mostly bottom land.

Tom Lee Park should be a no-wake zone. If you can see the first tree line, that is Arkansas. The water behind the treeline is floodwater. (but that area is often flooded)

I am glad to hear that. It sounded pretty bad when she told me about it. :prayerssent:
