Maybe, but then get 11 other guys to also have 4 hours on the same day at the same time in a specific time frame of a few weeks before the season starts

Never been an issue for us.

Because for some it’s just easier to print up a cheat sheet right before the draft, and stick to it.

Auction is wayyy more nuanced for some casuals. Cheat sheets for them are mostly worthless

People are telling on themselves so bad in this thread. Snake drafts are for the lazy booger eating fantasy players. Grow UP. Auction is by far the fairest, funnest format

Meh, we get 12 guys together for an entire weekend every single year and are going on the 26th year of this league. Last year we were at a cabin in Toledo Bend. This year is False River. But, we all love fantasy football and are all very competitive. Coincidentally this is a snake draft leage that refuses to go to an auction which is crazy to me because of how epic an Auction would be in this league with this group of people. I'm in 2 other leagues that auction draft and that have a few carryover members from the snake league and they all agree that auction is superior.

Because most people don’t care that much. Most members of most leagues don’t post on fantasy talk on tigerdroppings. They want to go to their drafts, have a few drinks away from their families, hop on their league site of choice, look at their cheat sheets, and draft a few players and have a nice evening for a couple of hours.

There is no way in hell my main league would want to put in that kind of work with all of the actual shite they have going on (30+ kids amongst 12 members). I’d personally be down for trying it but I’d much rather play with those good friends than worry pushing any component of the league.

You sound like kind of a douche in this thread btw. I can only imagine that you’ve blown up your league with this request a half dozen times and they’re probably sick of you.

Draft is undoubtedly the best part of fantasy. 12 of us get together at a buddy's lake house north of Austin and have a golf tourney Friday, auction draft Saturday night.

We do more of a hybrid draft, though. Auction for everyone's first 7 players then snake for the remainder.

Idgaf driveman. call me what you will.

I used to do tons of prep for the draft and read all the reports, make my own rankings, etc, and realizing it didnt help me that much, alongside of getting older, i just dont care as much anymore, i dont want to do hours of prep for the draft.

im fine being a somewhat casual player now, fantasy isnt as for me as it used to be for a myriad of reasons

I’ve been in fantasy for 20 years. Never did auction till about 4 years ago. Auction is head and shoulders better in every aspect. The most prepared do better and have better teams. It’s so fun with guys you know. Made me realize snake draft is for guys that show up with no list or prep and win the league out of PURE luck

Had a 15 year league finally switch to Auction 4 years ago. They would always vote no until one year it passed to switch to Auction by one vote. The league now would never go back to Snake. A live auction draft is the pinnacle.

Same. Last year actually worked out where 11/12 guys were together and other was on FaceTime and it was the most fun draft I’ve had. Coincided with my worst team ever so maybe need less fun draft this year.

Hard to top everyone bidding live in the room
with an auctioneer.

We have had some instances where someone is on zoom and it worked out fine.

I like in person auction drafts, but I am not a fan of on-line auctions.

Perhaps you and the few owners who want to do an auction should start an additional league rather than trying to get people to change the structure of an established league.

Auction drafts can take FOREVER

Probably the biggest reason. Also takes more homework, more management and thought process besides just looking at a sheet like a monkey and making a pick.

People are afraid of change. I LOVE auctions but only if they are live, online auctions kind of suck. Live auctions are so much better than any draft.

I don’t mind but the casual fantasy player wants to at least have a competitive team

If it's a dynasty startup, go with auction. Yes it takes more work and of course the draft is going to take longer, but its the most fair. If you're in a yearly redraft league, just roll with a snake draft. It's quick, easy, and definitely takes a bit of luck to win(as does everything in fantasy). Auction isn't for everyone but it has its time and place.
