Have been trying to get one league to move to auction for many years and the majority just won’t do it. There’s 2-3 of us that want to but the other 9-10 won’t even really entertain it. Even some of the bottom dwellers of the league that could maybe benefit from it. They won’t even talk about it.

“If we switch to auction, I’m out.”

Any of y’all here that have that mindset? Are you afraid of auction drafting? Or afraid of what you’re not familiar with?

I'm in both leagues and both are fun, tho I usually dread the Auction draft even tho I usually wind up doing pretty good.

I play in a league like this and we have voted to reject auction every year. My reason is not wanting to have to do all kinds of research to figure out the best ways to manage the money to draft the players. Feels like alot of work. Im sure others are similar

Auction draft format is more fair than a snake format. I'd also argue it's exponentially more fun than a snake format, so I've never understood people who refuse auction style.

I'm not leaving a yearly redraft league over a draft format, but if it's the first draft of a dynasty league, I'll only do auction.

It can be for your first time. But it’s a way more fair and balanced way if doing it. Snake is just basically BPA with the possibility of going in with a general overall strategy. It’s lazy.

Auction drafts take forever. some people don’t wanna put that much time into drafting when you can knock out a snake draft online in 2 hrs.

People like what they like, but I've never understood treating a fantasy draft like a chore or something to get over with.

I'd rather take more time during the draft to ensure I like my roster for the duration of an entire season (or multiple seasons if a dynasty league)

To each their own though.

The risk of totally screwing up a team is much higher than picking BPA in a snake draft. If you blow your budget too late or don’t bid early enough you can be stuck with a real turd and nobody wants to manage that.

Drafts are fun. Doing it for 4 hours at a computer isn’t fun. Nor do a lot of us have that kind of time

After doing this 20+ years, I will say the draft is what people look forward to most and get the happiest about.

So yeah, I don't get why not having a better, more personalized, and longer draft isn't more popular.

Because they don’t want to do the work. Most fantasy sports players are casual who just want to draft the best player available whenever they get slotted.

Buddy is starting up a dynasty league in a month and we are doing auction for the initial draft but going to standings-based next year for the rookie draft. It really does require a ton of planning.

You can’t find four hours extra time one day out of the year?

Had a 15 year league finally switch to Auction 4 years ago.

They would always vote no until one year it passed to switch to Auction by one vote.

The league now would never go back to Snake.

A live auction draft is the pinnacle.

The draft is the best part of the league.

Who cares if it’s long.

A fantasy draft isn’t a chore or a job.

You can still have the Tacos in your leagues have good auction drafts.

After the first one they aren’t hard to get used to.
