Is this a ‘down year’ for fantasy FB as a whole?

Seems like there are so few reliable players week to week. Worse than I can remember in a long time. I’d bet 80% of league winners this year own least one of about 5-6 players. If you were lucky enough to grab one or two of those, you’re probably undefeated or close to it. With the exception of those guys the remaining are WR3s and RB3’s. Tight ends have sucked for years, and a shite load of typically steady QB’s are either out for the year or just underperforming. Total crapshoot week to week. I’d like to try and learn something that would apply to next year but I’m not sure what that is at the moment.

The NFL has become a week to week, almost hour to hour league.

Each week is its own thing now.

The Wire was pretty barren this year as well IMO.

Too many mouth breathers are spoonfed fantasy info now. All you need to do is click on a waiver wire article and the wire gets picked clean. Especially in a 12+ team league. There’s no legwork like there used to be. Gets worse every year it seems. You have to add speculatively just to stay ahead

you dont even have to work anymore, waiver wire articles are everywhere. everything is spoonfed now to owners no doubt. hard to get a leg up in some areas.

Dude.

How the frick...?

Lamar, CMC, and Cook typically outscore some people's entire lineups every week.

There’s still an edge to be had, ya just gotta get 2-3 weeks ahead of the add. And know how to manage your lineup

Agreed. Also, one of the strategies that people don't consider enough, and one that I've employed more of this year is spending my FAAB (nearly $50 so far) to ensure that I roster multiple solid D/STs at a time. Streaming Ds is nothing new but I will take it a step further and plan ahead, sometimes 3 weeks in advance, just to exploit future matchups I like.

I feel like it has given me a bit of an edge at D so far this season.

Rams 9
Texans 11
Packers 13
Steelers 19
Eagles 35
Redskins 12
Rams 22
Steelers 15
Cowboys 19
Steelers 22

I still see lots of teams just sticking with the same D every week.

you can solve this by shortening the benches. That way you don't have the luxury to stack Shady and Damien Williams and are forced to make a decision.

Make someone drop someone they wouldn't want to if they want to make a move. Want to pick up Jaylen Samuels for the next three weeks? That's fine, but you will have to drop your DJ Moore to make that happen.

Yep we dropped the kicker and added an extra WR/TE spot but kept the same bench spots, so another 12 guys off the waiver.

Will try to push next year to remove one bench spot but I doubt it works

I think offenses around the league becoming more dynamic has lead to inconsistency even from your studs the last few years. Teams play match ups more and don’t feel as forced to feed a guy targets or carries if a D wants to take them out.

It’s been an odd year

Especially on the waiver wire. For the last 3-4 years there has always been that gem that lifts someone from playoff bubble to championship contender. Or at the very least there’s been several guys that turn out to be decent starters. Who can we say that about this year? Waller? McLaurin?

I have a pretty stacked team and I’m 6-4. Started off 3-0 as well. Just a weird year
