This will mainly be for my situation, but figure it's a decent topic.

Do you obviously handcuff your RB1/RB2 if it's clear, or do you hold onto other lottery tickets? I lean towards the former, though I'm currently not doing it.

I have Dalvin Cook, Mattison is available. I'd have to drop another lotto ticket in Malcom Brown to pick him up. Only difference is Brown actually getting a role right now and would get an even larger one should Gurley go down.

Rest of relevant roster:

RB- CMC, Cook, AJones, Carson, Singletary, Brown
WR- Evans, Godwin, AJ Green, John Brown, Hardman
TE- Andrews, Waller

And yes I've tried to move Waller and cant find a buyer. 10 team PPR.

You should 100% own Mattison. AJ sounds like he's recovering well and I am expecting a week 5/6 return. I'd honestly drop hardman and roster both Brown/Mattison

It's a very interesting topic. I struggle with this sometimes, especially in leagues with limited bench spots (5 or less).

In this case, I don't see the dilemma. Mattison is the best play for you,and I don't think it's even debatable.

I agree with the above. Mattison should be 100% owned. Cook is going to get hurt. He missed 5 games last year for with a hamstring injury & 12 games in 2017 with a torn ACL.

I posed this exact question yesterday, except instead of Malcolm Brown it was Darwin Thompson in my case. As another poster said, drop Hardman and pick up Mattison.

My only concern is you have 2 WR's from the same team in Evans and Godwin. What's up with that? You do need WR help. Now that I'm thinking about it don't drop Hardman, drop Singletary. You'll never start him over your top 4 RB's who are STACKED. Plus I don't see the upside with him being that Gore isn't going away, even if they do name Singletary the starter.

You're team is stacked, even in a 10 team league. Who is your QB? Noticed you didn't list that; just curious.

Yeah, drop singletary and roster Brown / Mattison. Even if Singletary pops off you won't be using him.

Certain backfields are no brainers to cuff if you have decent bench sizes

Cook/Mattison
Zeke/Pollard

Being probably the 2 best examples this year. They are not low end cuffs but potential league winners for another team if you dont own them and lose your backfield to injury, suspension, or whatever

Yeah, drop singletary

Nah.

Early on, I prefer upside and chasing backs in murky situations. As the season goes along and your starters are basically settled, I am good with moving towards handcuffs. Every situation is different, but at this point, I want guys who could end up getting standalone value without an injury.

Y’all are gonna regret dropping hardman, IMO

This is a good thread and a quality topic. I always find myself in this dilemma

I'm in this dilemma with Chase Edmonds(David Johnson Owner) right now. A few guys I think are worth stashing and IDK if chase is worth it even if David goes down.

Mostert,JJAWS, and Justice Hill.

I’d say the three most interesting handcuffs, and I say most interesting as a way of saying I think they’d be top 10 RBs, would be Mattison, Brown and Rashaad Penny

My motto generally is Handcuff if

A) backup is talented
B) offense is competent

Worst feeling in the world is having a legit every week play like Cook going down and not having his backup

Interesting. As a tyreek replacement or in addition to once he's back? I'm holding right now but he would be the first I'd drop if I had to.

This isn’t as big of a deal in a 10

Brown and Singletary are closer to getting a taste than Mattison. More access to handcuff types in a 10, I don’t think owning mattison is imperative here, though I’d just drop Hardman or Waller

Work your way to #1 waiver spot and squat on it, it’s as good as an extra roster spot. Break glass when needed

CMC and Cook were my first two picks, took Evans because hes usually still solid even with Jameis being Jameis.

I was a big believer in Godwin, and went Jones/Carson in round 4/5. Godwin was there in the 6th and I just couldn't pass up that value.

I lean this philosophy as well. I like to roll the dice and take risks in fantasy. Holding your handcuff all year is good insurance, but it can make roster management a nightmare during bye weeks and such. I hate feeling like I've got two roster spots for the same thing. What if you own Zeke and Dalvin? Would you feel obligated to hold Mattison AND Pollard? 4 roster spots?

It's just a question of whether you like to play it safe or swing for the fences. While handcuffing might guarantee your team won't implode with one injury, it also caps your ceiling. I like the flexibility to take shots on guys that might emerge during the season, then as playoffs approach I'll cuff.

Why didn’t you tell me it was 10tm. A monkey could run a 10tm league
