Pretty sure it will. Gibbs is not built for running between the tackles or at the goal line. Game situation will continue to dictate. Let the lions get down by 10 or more and you’ll see plenty of Gibbs. However, in week 10+, if a game is similar to last night, the roles will be similar. They are both very good, but very different players. The Lions didn’t bring them in to be starter/backup but to play their roles.
The one place Gibbs may earn more time is lining up outside with Monty in the backfield.

I don’t agree with this at all. If they don’t want to over use him that’s one thing. He can definitely run between the tackles if he needs to. You don’t spend a 1st rd pick on a RB with those kind of limitations.

Relax on Gibbs. It would be normal to let a more senior, and still clearly talented back in Montgomery get the bulk early on.

Not sure many (or any) of the experts claimed Gibbs would be a bell cow. Usage will average higher than game 1, but still likely Gibbs only seeing 10-12 opportunities per game. He’s got the talent and OL to do big things with those opps.

Drafted as RB #12-14 and barring injury, I bet he clears the top 18 at least.

They're going to want to throw to him at the goal line. And they aren't going to be 1 dimensional by always throwing when he's in. He will get carries on the goal line

They were too predictable last night. Montgomery didn’t have any targets and when Gibbs was in he was the focus of the play.

They will get better as the year goes on. Gibbs will see more carries and Monty will see more targets.

Gibbs has another 10 yards and a TD if he doesn't trip on his first red zone carry.

He will be fine.

If he looked like complete shite or fumbled and got benched, I’d get the panic

But other than tripping he looked damn good. Despite the wide usage difference, it still took a Montgomery TD to outscore him by 5 points in a PPR

The panic must be from people who didn’t actually watch the game and were going strictly on the usage #s.

Everyone who selected Gibbs should be ecstatic right now IMO. I picked him with 1st pick in the 4th (12 team ppr) and I’m very happy. IMO he looked better than expected. Like others said, he out scores Montgomery if the turf monster doesn’t trip him in the 1st half.

Campbell chose Montgomery to close out the game against the SB Champs on the road at a very hostile place bc
1) he also is a good player
2) he is an experienced vet
3) it was short yardage, tough yards and that’s really his specialty any way.

This is Gibbs first NFL game and Campbell wanted someone who is also very talented and been there before to close it out. A few weeks in, I don’t see Campbell ONLY relying on Montgomery.

Let the overreactions begin.

For context, Justin Jefferson had a TOTAL of 11 ppr points over his 1st two NFL games.

I'd be more worried if Gibbs looked like shite, but he didn't. He looked like the best back on the field.

If anybody is dropping Gibbs I'm picking him up. He has a much higher ceiling in this offense

Don't think even the angriest owners are considering dropping him.
