Injuries have fricked everything up. It's not like this every year.

And a good closer is more than a one stat guy. Recording 2 or 3 Ks in one inning or not allowing a runner or runs are a nice bang for your buck in K/9, WHIP, and ERA.

Also, you're taking a risk drafting guys like Jim Johnson Capps Francisco (sucks), Soria Brian Wilson Chris Perez Joe Nathan Houston Street (injury prone), Walden Marmol (erratic as frick), Marshall Motte Balfour Guerra (not much experience closing)

Mo, Bailey, Storen, Santos getting hurt isn't something you can predict. Axford, Hanrahan and Bell will turn it around.

There are about 10 guys you can trust. If you don't get them, then you are playing with fire.

Yes, Reed got the save, resulting in confidence from Ventura, resulting in title of new closer

He should already have Ventura's confidence. He strikes out every fricking hitter and has not allowed an earned run yet.

Also, I think Ryan Cook should maybe get a look if Grant Balfour continues to be himself.

Mujica 2 for 2 in saves... bring in Chisek tonight and save is blown.

Edit: I've watched Chisek a couple of times and he doesn't throw strikes consistently. Don't think he can handle it yet.

Was thinking about this last night, it needs to be replaced with another pitching cat or just removed and left with 4 cats

SV + HD - BS

Eliminate the need for strictly "closers" and get the best relievers period.

This year, more than any other has confirmed the stupidity of the Closer position.

I'm going to try and get it eliminated from every league I can. It's worthless. One stat cat guys who get rotated worse than a bad RBBC in FFB.

There's not even any "skill" in trying to evaluate and nab 'em. It's just a 24 hour twitter troll in case news drops and then race to the add/drop menu and hope you get one and drop your shittiest player before someone else does. Only to do it all over again 3 days later when that shitty arse pitcher loses the job.

I agree 100%. It's not worth the time/effort for a 1 category roll of the dice position.

Carnage continues... Reed 162 ERA on his .1 inning non-save outing... It was questionable he would be the regular closer even before today despite his prior success.

Very strange year for closers this year.

Balfour - Out
Fuentes - In

Also the Mets will decide today on demoting Frank Francisco. My only question is who would be next on the list? Bobby Parnell? I sure hope so.

Because of Heath Bell and Jordan Walden crapping the bed, I'm not getting any saves. Should I drop one of them for Dale Thayer or ride it out?

I could get behind this. I'm all for trying to add best relievers and the skill of selecting those guys. But the closer grab drives me crazy.
