I used to work at a corporation that gave every employee at least two hours off to go vote on presidential election day. If it took longer, and you could verify it, you could have even more time off.

So you're the guy who opens his Christmas presents as soon as it's put under the tree. Some of us prefer tradition over impatience.

Some of us don't live in shite holes like New Orleans and can easily vote on election day.

It's much easier to go to the church in my precinct on election day than it is go all the way into the county courthouse and wait in line just to early vote.

I usually early vote (being by the courthouse so often makes it easy to go when lines are small) but my wife couldn't so I waited to vote with her.

Election day should be the only voting day.

Prior to Hurricane Laura this was true for me. A school a few blocks from me was the voting precinct and it never had a line. Early voting often has long lines.

There is no early voting in Alabama (no mail in voting either). You either get off your arse on election day or stay home.

Because for some of us, it was easier and quicker to wait. I went to State Archives last Tuesday, wait was about 30 min.

My polling place is 3 min from my house, waited in line 5 min...

i vote at mandeville high, and although i voted early this year, i have never had a problem voting there on election day. never waited more than 5-10 minutes, if that. the reason we voted early this year is because my wife is working today and would never had made it, so we went together early.

ordinarily though, i'd vote today, just so they don't have their 'target number' yet.

Until 2020 we always voted in person, it was a chance to see all the little old ladies we knew growing up. They all worked our voting location. We brought them donuts every year since the 80s.

Sadly they are all gone or retired from volunteering.

Three reasons:
1. Tradition.
2. I want to watch my vote be tallied.
3. So I can let everyone around me know I already put up my Christmas tree.

Funny to see the anger over such a simple question.
