Was I wrong for reporting the woman in a "childless cat lady" shirt to the poll workers?

This morning I reported someone for electioneering within 600ft of a voting site. She was hysterical and made a scene when told she needed to leave. Am I the bad guy? Rules are rules.

RS 18:1462 states :
quote:

The legislature, therefore, enacts this Subsection to provide for a six hundred foot campaign-free zone around polling places to provide to each voter such an environment in which to exercise his right to vote.

Joel Watson, Louisiana's Deputy Secretary of State for communications, told USA TODAY.

quote:

Anyone who shows up to a Louisiana polling place wearing a button, hat, shirt or other campaign apparel "would be asked to either turn the shirt inside out, remove the button [and] put it back in their car. Same thing with the hat," said Watson. "If they refused to do so, they would be asked to leave."

But asking people to leave is a worst-case scenario.

"We want to give people the chance to vote," he said. "So we just asked them to remove those particular items before they come back to the polling place."

This won't be a popular opinion but a "Make America Great Again" hat doesn't show a political campaign or politician. Neither does her gear. Both should be acceptable in line. I tend to err on the side of freedoms though

I probably would not have complained about her considering I will be wearing my high viz orange vest like Pres Trump wore when he rode in that garbage truck last week.

I'll let the board know if the poll workers ask me to remove it when I vote.

Democrats hate when they have to follow the rules. The rules are really only for you.

I’m wearing Trump EVERYTHING down to and including my skivvies. Hopefully, they will ask me to remove them. I’ll just go “naked grandma” on them.

Were you technically correct? Yes.

Was this a petty, "Karen" sort of thing to do? Also yes.

Nope. They just don’t like when rules are applied to them
