Freeing up a spot for Perry to move into, getting the inside track for next election.
Cruz is sharp and him being AG would be a waste when Gowdy is more than capable

Kennedy has mentioned he may retire in near future and then there is Ginsburg. May have quite a few spots to fill.

I much prefer Gowdy for the S.Court as he would be there for life & in a position to do more good for the country. Cruz anywhere for life scares me.

Screw than guy. He committed unforgivable political sin at the convention. I'd marginalized him in every way possible.

Cruz will never be POTUS. He knows this. His highest office he can ever attain to is his Senate seat, and even that is in play with Rick Perry on the horizon. Cruz's only higher office he could ever hope to have would therefore be the SCOTUS and if offered, he will take it. He's smart, young, and will rule as a conservative.

I am curious how the political appointments will go for sitting senators with only a one vote majority. I figured Sessions would be first in line for something.
