re: Hugo's Melt at the Reality of President Donald Trump (long)

Yeah, I was anti-Trump from the get go for the exact reason I stated. He has no track record in public office. I have no idea what he will really stand up for or against. Hillary on the other hand, has a long track record of what she has supported and not supported in public office.

Well said.
Sorry Hillary didn't get to be president of half the people. She's now showing up twelve hours late for her speech to supporters and addressing it only to the women. I guess it would have better than obama's try at being president of 30% of the population.

However, my optimism is cautious. If he abuses his power at the expense of the rights and freedoms we all hold sacred (first amendment, freedom of the press), he will need to be held accountable and the people that have supported him from the beginning will need to be there to keep him in check.
Do you honestly think the GOP was the biggest threat to individual freedoms? The party of limited government and personal accountability/responsibility was going to restrict personal freedom?
Orrrrrrrrr, how about the party of increased government intrusion into people's property rights and increased governmental regulation. Or the party fueled by and condones the toxic PC culture that has infested American society?
Here's a hint: when books start getting burned in America, it won't be the GOP or American conservatives...

You were anti-Trump because you were strongly pro-Hillary. You were never even looking for any alternative. You had exactly what you were looking for in Hillary. A liberal prog democrat in love with the democratic candidate is never going to vote for the Republican running against them. No matter what you want people to believe. Just own that part as well.

"Moreover, what's unique about Trump is he really doesn't have a proven ideology."
This is the most fascinating part of a fascinating election. Aside from a very few things, we don't know what Trump will do or what his priorities will be. As a center-right person who sat this one out (voting on the remainder of the elections), Trump's unpredictability worried me but now I find myself cautiously optimistic, projecting onto him the sort of pro-growth, fiscally responsible inclinations I tend to have. Who knows, perhaps President Trump will, you know the rest ... MAGA!
Finally, a quick congrats to true Trumpkins on this board. Celebrate well.

He's never worked like normal Americans. You guys are going to learn the hard way these guys dgaf about you. You just elected a billionaire reality tv star with the vocabulary of an 11 year old to POTUS. What's gonna happen when he tries to negotiate with a foreign power and pisses them off or doesn't get what he wants? Is he gonna cry like a bitch to the media that its unfair? I hope he implodes the entire thing and the economy collapses because you idiots deserve it. Voting for those two scum should've been considered a felony.

And the point is, he was still a better alternative than Hillary. How scary must that be for you libs? You would think you guys would understand that by now, but I guess it's tough to accept.

Why must we hold him accountable but we have been begging for a year now that HRC be held accountable for her crimes. Both the emails and Benghazi and people give her a pass?

You are so wrong. Forgot how science books were replaced with Christian "science" books in several southern states? Guess who did that? The Conservatives

Since most Americans are not executives, I guess you are right.
But if you think he hasn't worked tirelessly on his real estate projects to produce a billion dollar company, then you are just a fool.

Yea ole Hugo was transparent as frick but was trying to act like he was so much smarter than everyone here and had us all fooled. Typical elitist Lib mentality.

Because she's held public office before and Trump hasn't?

Nice post, Hugo, and I've seen similarly measured takes from other liberals here.
It raises the question, though...why were you such assholes when y'all thought y'all were winning?
Allow me this one chance to say, frick you.
Now that that's out of the way, nice post

He was elected on the same but near opposite style of populism as Obama..
This is a good line.. These are the voters that have either not truly cared or voted sparingly in years past..
I also thought the same way when Obama was elected 8 years ago, thinking he had a real opportunity to lead the Nation forward positively while still getting some of his core templates passed.. He failed on so many levels that I worry Trump will fall into the same trap but I hope he has seen the fallacy from the path laid before him. While Obama will be seen as a success by his party and his ideological agenda was forced, he failed miserably in uniting when given the chance.. Trumps odd lack of a true ideology leads me to believe that he actually has a chance to compromise while still reaching for his desired goals. Time will tell...

He was chosen by the heart and soul of America, the working class people that feels our government has abandoned them. They want a president that sends a very clear and powerful message to the elites on both sides that everyday Americans can not be ignored anymore and if they are ignored, there will be consequences. I find myself oddly reassured that the American people hold this power and can exercise it when needed, like last night.

Trump has an extraordinary opportunity as President to actually work for the American people in a way that transcends political parties and ideology. Truthfully, as our president I want him to succeed, I want America to succeed. I hope he rises above the pettiness and vindictiveness he demonstrated in his campaign
