Hmmm, no love for krispy kreme?

I don't really eat donuts but when right off the line they used to be hard to beat.

Went to try Shipley's this weekend. Not even close to Mary Lee.

Try Crispy Donuts on Highland just north of campus. The location sucks, but their glazed donuts are excellent.

Depends on the location of Mary Lee. They all vary slightly in the way they do things.

I love KK hot glazed right off the conveyor belt, but their other varieties are so damn sweet I can't even eat them.

I haven’t had any donut that beats a fresh hot glazed donut from Mary Lee. Not just in BR, I mean anywhere.

Maybe you need to go to Thibodaux and go to Rob's.
I'd say they are on par with Mary Lee's.

I think most of them are franchised/independently owned. They probably use the same recipe and alter some little things.

Also, I'm pretty sure that most of the Asian owned donut shops around town have a similar/same recipe as Mary Lee's.

No…no…no.

Shipley’s hot glazed donut waaaay better than Mary Lee’s. Their Kolache’s are better too.

The donut comparison is like the pizza comparison, you like what you grew up eating or what you’re, currently, most accustomed to having. With that said, I looked up Google ratings for most of the prior donut shops mentioned and Rickey Meche’s on Guilbeau in Lafayette has the highest rating on Google at 4.8. I think Mary Lees on Coursey had a 4.8 but a lot fewer reviews. Not saying Google means much, but what other objective info do we have to go by?

So, you like what you like, but if you’re in Lafayette, ask for a dozen hot glazed at Meche’s on Guilbeau. All Meche’s aren’t the same…the Guilbeau Rd location is the best. I’ve had Ronnie’s and MaryLee’s…they’re awesome, but Meche’s is my favorite.

Mary Lee's quality definitely varies by location. They're not all the same.

I used to think the same. However working near Baker’s Dozen on Jefferson, my opinion has changed. A hot glazed from there is incredible

Wife likes Junust Donuts.

I like their donuts and breakfast sandwiches, I am not a fan of their Kolache, the dough is fine, and they are cooked OK, I just don't like their sausage.

To be honest, I like my donuts a little more substantial than what Mary lee puts out, Junust are a little more substantial but still light and fluffy at the same time.

This thread inspired me to stop at Mary Lee this morning. It's probably been 2 years or so. They're definitely still great.
