This is the most annoying part of this entire thing. Why does the government think that they need to protect people who don't want the protection. If someone wants the vaccine, they've had plenty enough time to get it. If they don't get it, they accept the consequences of that action in the event that they contract COVID. Hospitals aren't going to get overrun, let's fricking get on with life.

Because human immunity isn't individual, it is social.

It is absolutely false for the media to frame this as chaos for the young and healthy.

This is the part that pisses me off the most. Yes, more young kids are getting it now. No shite, for the better part of a year all of the activities that young kids and young people would normally do were shut down.

For the first time in a long time this summer, most everything is wide open.

I think it matters when a Dr. says it’s coming for your children & 75% of the 99% unvaccinated deaths are in the 70+ age group

Great point, I definitely do agree that not everyone needs to take this to greatly increase their odds.

But it doesn't change that the overwhelming majority of people dying are unvaccinated. Basically, it's obviously everyone's choice to do what they want, but there's probably a whole lot of people dying unnecessarily and it's a bit sad if you think about some of the reasons for some of them, being so caught up in the politics of it all and not believing a vaccine will help them(for those who it certainly would help)

You fear monger every day with anti vax stuff and post 99% of the covid/vax misinformation on here.

I'm 53. Had Covid in November right before Thanksgiving. Sucked not being able to smell and taste all my favorite foods. I think I had Delta at the end of June. My immune system is stacked!!

That's misinformation? You idiots are setting the bar lower each day.
Didn't you start a thread insinuating 3 random country Presidents dying was because they refused vaccines, and that post was littered with misinformation?

That's a rhetorical question, you did do exactly that.

Well for me, I know of two people that died about two weeks ago from COVID. They were both vaccinated.

That has to be a damn near statistical anomaly. How old were they?

So, you agree that we should shut the country down until more people are vaccinated?

But we act like a 100:1 are really awesome odds. It's really not that great if you're talking about life and death. At this point, it's abundantly obvious the vaccine does increase your risk of survival. I know some still posting here seem to think that's not true, but there's really no helping those folks if they can't concede that.

If the survival rate were like 10 million:1, I'd get the idea of saying I'm good and no need for the vaccine. But 100:1, those aren't the best odds, seems greatly increasing those numbers would be a good idea, given how simple it is to do so.

But the 100:1 odds are taking the population as a whole. If you have a healthy BMI (under 24 or 25), then your odds are greater. If you are middle age or younger, your odds are greater. If you already had COVID and have the natural antibodies & T Cells, your odds are greater. If you go to the Dr. regularly and KNOW you do not have any other health issues, your odds are greater.

No, but maybe we should shut it down until people learn basic immunologic principles.

60s, both had comorbidities, but makes me wonder about that 99% number.
