Got it. Apparently it’s a common roku problem.

Had to unplug the TV.
Then connected the Apple TV to a different TV. Made it learn the remote on there. Plugged it back in and knows it now lo.

When that thing fires up you're gonna have a "holy hell" moment

Everything came in early. Holy shite that SVS sub is MASSIVE! naturally it didn’t come with the right cable to connect it to the avr so I’m waiting to calibrate it until after I get it all hooked up. Very excited to have everything in. Gotta wait 2 days for the cable to arrive then I’ll get it fired up!

Next upgrade will be the 75” tcl 6 series. Thank god for spare bedrooms

TIRED It cannot display 4K pixel resolution at 120 Hz, so it cannot take full advantage of the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X. Video settings are tough to find, at first.

I’m wondering if you can actually tell the difference with the ps5

The next gen consoles will maybe have like 5 games total, all like 3D platformers, that can even run at 4K 120Hz. It's dumb to care about IMO.

They're targeting 4K 60, and even some at launch are 4K 30.

I see so many complaints about non 2.1 tvs or whatever.. yet I read even if a TV has 2.1 now it will likely be trash?

Won't the people that say they want to future proof now end up just wanting the more improved technology later on any ways?

I am so happy with my 65" TCL mini-LED 6-series. The sound is so good that I am not even using my sound bar ATM.

same argument with 4K back in the day. i bought one of the very first 4K tvs and boy do i regret it now. no HDR, dolby vision, etc etc.

in fact i would have been better off sticking with 1080p because a 4K tv without the features that came out later that really make it shine is worse than a standard HD TV. you should see how HDR content looks on this tv. the color is completely washed out. the same content on a proper 4K tv looks gorgeous.

IOW, some of these new technologies might allow you to tick of a 'future proof' box in your mind but when the dust settles and that feature is mainstream it may look nothing like the first iteration.

You don’t use a budge TV to Future Proof IMO. If you are trying to Future Proof right now, you would get an 8K tv. And those are insanely expensive.

I am only concerned about the picture. I am reading it stacks up to OLED (which I don’t really believe) but if it is even close to OLED for that price, i think it is worth it for the 75 Inch TV.

I have a 65". I like it, but I am not a techno geek. I have not hooked my sound bar up to it yet.

Any rumors of upcoming sales on the 6 series? Would like to snag a 75" from Costco but they have like no stock currently.

I bought the 75" 6 series a couple of weeks ago and was very disappointed. Motion handing was poor, audio had a noticable delay from the picture, and the TV kept freezing and restarting on it's own. I ended up returning it and getting the Sony X900H. I'm much happier with the X900H.

My fiancé ended up buying me a 65 inch 5 series. I’m going from a 1080 Samsung that is like 7 years old. I gotta say the 5 series looks great.

In typical TCL style, the first one had a defective panel and had to be returned. But the second one looks great.

Yes, I know there are much better TVs on the market, but for $600. I really think this is a solid tv, we are just using it to hold us over until we move and will end up getting a UST projector. It has dolby vision and the contrast looks great. Once again, I know there is much better out there. But coming from what I had and how cheap this one was, I really can’t complain.

I would highly recommend the 5 series for a den or play room. Not for a dedicated home theater where you are looking for the best possible picture. Not sure about the audio on it, I have it hooked up to my 5.1 system (Jurassic park in 4K uhd is a banger)

Anyone in this thread who got the 6 series having sound problems? Seems like every few days something janky with the sound happens. If I unplug and plug it back in it usually fixes it. But I’m not liking that solution long term.

try a COMPLETE REBOOT. the tv doesn't actually turn off; it just goes to sleep. you have to dig through the menus (i think under 'system/restart') to find the actual option to reboot the roku

i've had sound issues maybe 3-4x in the last year with my 2019 Roku TCL and restarting the TV fixed it.

seems like this is most likely to happen when jumping back & forth between the built-in roku and xbox or other inputs.

you shouldn't have to unplug the tv itself but it is confusing because powering off with the remote leaves the roku running and you have to dig around to find the option to truly restart it.

eta are you using a soundbar? i added one and seem to have fewer audio issues with that but i did have to power off the soundbar one time when audio stopped working to get it back (using optical).

Any other 6 series owners have problems streaming Wonder Woman 1984 on HBO Max? Stream is choppy.

I think HBO Max 4K is not yet compatible with TCL Roku.

My homegrown solution running on a 10 year old dell streamed that 2 plus hour snoozefest in glorious 4K without a single hiccup.

This is why we hate being subjected to these streaming service shite apps.
