I am an anesthesia provide and the fact that this guy attempted to do an intercoastal nerve block without the use of ultrasound, is inexcusable. We use ultrasound daily for blocks and it’s a fail proof method of doing exactly what he was wanting to do without the adverse effect.

He must have not been using ultrasound, because an intercostal block using basic human anatomy + ultrasound is pretty much idiot proof. You can teach a med student or intern to do it in 5 minutes with no trouble.

The real problem is if you hit the cerebral cortex nerve right behind the tibium plate. One time I was with a client and I used the plumbum to lacerate a small piece of the hydragyrum but didn’t realize I had already prefixed the plasma indicator on top of the labrum

Rookie mistake luckily the guy was a good sport

Also FWIW I didn’t charge him for the visit

Imagine how upset people would be if this had happened to Mahomes or Lamar Jackson and it ended their careers.

Was this once the Saints team doctor.

Just kidding.

No surprise. Thousands die from medical error every year in this country.

On average there are more deaths from the result of medical error in the US, than there will be from COVID-19. But that’s another fact we’ll ignore.

Players get injections every single gameday. What happened to Taylor is an extraordinarily rare occurrence.
