In a cold case for nearly 50 years ago, a scientist has uncovered new clues in the D.B. Cooper case by looking at minuscule deposits of algae on the money, according to a new study.
quote:
"The Cooper bill contained diatoms from summer bloom species suggesting that the money was not directly buried dry and the immersion happened months after the late November hijacking," the study's abstract states. "This finding rules out of a majority of current theories related to the crime and proposes diatoms as a feasible methodology to constrain seasonal timelines in forensics."

“The money was not floating in the water for a year, otherwise we would have seen diatoms from the full range of the year," Kaye continued. "We only saw them from the spring … the springtime bloom. So, this puts a very narrow range on when the money got wet and was subsequently buried on Tena bar.”

The immersion evidence shows this to be true but the diatoms were an import from a more tropical climate, rendering any findings with a scope on local origins null and void.
I believe the actual findings and results speak for themselves, loudly.

The man smoked a ton of cigs during this ordeal. Did the DNA degenerate beyond usability?

I always thought the guy arrested for the United hijacking, which had the same M.O. as the Northwest Orient hijacking, was a dead ringer for sketch provided by the Northwest FA's to the FBI. The Rackstraw Documentary was very interesting, but they couldn't tie it all together.

They don’t take a dump without a plan.

Crazy thought, but what if he never actually jumped? Did anyone actually witness him jumping? Could explain a lot of things from no experienced jumper would bail out in those conditions, to the odd choice of clothing to him seemingly not caring about location or altitude. He could have hidden himself within the plane for all we know. It’s always interesting to think about.

Gianni Russo Actually handed Cooper the parachute before he jumped.

What if Richard McCoy was DB Cooper? Looked a hell of a lot like the drawing.

An interesting theory was proposed on a recent TV show. He jumped but even close to where they think. The theory was that he bounced on the stairs to make pilot think he jumped and then waited until close to landing to actually jump - much safer place to land if true.

In November 2011, Kaye announced that particles of pure (unalloyed) titanium had also been found on the tie. He explained that titanium, which was much rarer in the 1970s than in the 2010s, was at that time found only in metal fabrication or production facilities, or at chemical companies using it (combined with aluminum) to store extremely corrosive substances.[94] The findings suggested that Cooper may have been a chemist or a metallurgist, or possibly an engineer or manager (the only employees who wore ties in such facilities at that time) in a metal or chemical manufacturing plant,[95] or at a company that recovered scrap metal from those types of factories.[96]
It sounds like he was an engineer with a gambling problem or had lost his pension due to the company closing. This new evidence actually confirms he
