What’s with all of the sexual references in Back To The Future?

One of the opening scenes has Marty and Jennifer sitting on a park bench right before her father comes to pick her up.
There is a sex toy shop in the background in one shot, and the next shot shows the Essex Theater where it is showing “XXX American Orgy.”
...right there in that tiny town square. Was Hill Valley a swinger town?

I like how they changed the actress who played Jennifer from 1 to 2. It wasn’t really a big deal back in the 80s with a gap between movies but it’s funny now if you watch them back to back because they start/end with the same scene and it’s a different person.

Same thing they did to Bedford Fallls when George Baily thought he'd be better off if he'd never lived. When he walked back into town, town had turned into Morgan City.
