If you have no power and an electric stove you're very limited in what you can eat. PB sandwiches will always do the trick.

I don't understand why 22222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222222290

fricking cat.

I don't understand why people with electric ranges don't just get a Coleman camp stove and a few bottles of propane. They're like 45 bucks. I might not have power for a few days, but I'm sure as hell going to be able to cook.

Invest in an outdoor kitchen and your options are still pretty much limitless. Plus it gives you another reason to cook outdoors

Niece and nephew looked at me like I was nuts for buying french bread.

bullshite.

If you have a grill you can make anything that doesn't need to be baked.

What do you think people did before electric stoves? What do you eat when you go camping?

If you don't have a grill then you can buy or make an alcohol stove from aluminum cans for a few bucks.

Thank you. Same here. The OP must be a little kid and/or a northerner with no power outage experience.

Bread run during storms is real, but, the people making those bread runs don't frick with wheat bread apparently from my recent research.

I just got back from the grocery and they were damn near out of bread. The only bread left however, was white bread and pita.

I had to buy bunny bread for the first time in about two years.

To be fair, most people down here could stand to go a few days on basics like nuts/fruit or a sandwich. I don’t get the mad rush to buy $300 in food to cook for maybe a weekend ~possibly~ without power.

You’d think we were going into apocalyptic times.

Because it doesn't require refrigeration, is cheap, and you can make a ton with it. I mean multiple Hurricanes here in Florida P&J sandies are a god to for good, reliable calories and protein. Far better than most canned foods.

Stick em under the door jam. Easier to deal with than sandbags.

True but, personally, during power outages I try to use fire as little as possible due to heat. I try to keep my meals to heating pre prepared frozen stuff.

On that note every sandwich is one less time I’m by a fire while not having ac.

Because they're fat and greedy.

I'd think it would grow mold and mildew fairly quickly.

You must be buying the worst bread of all time if your bread molds and mildews in 2-3 days.
