Why do people buy bread before storms?

It makes no sense to me. Are you really going to eat that many sandwiches?

Bread run during storms is real, but, the people making those bread runs don't frick with wheat bread apparently from my recent research.

Charcoal grill/smoker
Charcoal smoker
Electric smoker (probably won't do much good)
Propane flat grill

None of those do much good in the rain though.
