Well, the mountains are getting a lot of good snow which is awesome. However, the temps are upper 20's lower 30's so the snow is so heavy, it's causing these avalanches.

At least, that's what I assume is going on. Went to Copper Mountain the day before this avalanche happened and even the snow up top was heavier than what you'd expect fresh powder to be.

Catch 22. Great boarding conditions but you might be buried alive.

Either it’s warming so it’s all melting because climate change or there’s so much snow there are extra avalanches because climate change.

I think it's do to the El Nino.

Lot of snow, temps enough for it to be a little heavier, and high winds. Gravity just doing it's thing.

Abasin closed tomorrow. Copper lost power today and there's no getting in or out as of now. Breck is the same. Worse places to be stuck at I suppose.

Riding The Storm Out

Ridin' the storm out, waitin' for the thaw out
On a full moon night in the Rocky Mountain winter
My wine bottle's low, watching for the snow
Thinkin' about what I've been missin' in the city
And I'm not missin' a thing
Watchin' the full moon crossing the range
Ridin' the storm out
Ridin' the storm out

If I'm a spring breaker I go to Purgatory and Telluride. The SW slopes are crazy full with powder.

Another MAJOR Avalanche just happened a few minutes ago. Dozens of cars are buried on Colorado Highway 91 between Leadville and Copper Mountain.
