I just checked and Park and Fly was full when I tried to reserve a spot for tomorrow, parking always gets tight on busy holidays.

I’m here now and the line for security is a total shitshow. Never seen it like this.

I reserved my spot last week, whew. $5.67/day made it cheaper to park than to pay for a ride to the airport.

So I was just told by an MSy employee that airlines booked flights expecting the new airport to be open and it’s not and now MSY can’t keep up.

It is an absolute shitshow. I’ve never seen it like this and I’ve flown plenty of times on the Friday before MG.

Okay, I’ll go earlier than I planned. But I’ve got TSA Pre, never check bags, and it’s a domestic connection to DFW. Hopefully, it will be smooth.

Who would have thought a public works project would be behind schedule in Louisiana

Eh. Not entirely true. There are actually less gates at the new facility.

The line to get into the airport was down Airline Hwy to the service road on Thursday night. Traffic inside the actual airport was the worst ive ever seen it. The traffic light right by the departure/arrival lanes was absolute chaos

Not exactly true. There was never a 'hard date' set until recently. And to be honest i'm not certain that both airports wont somehow be utilized because the new one is going to be a shitfest.

It has been crazy trying to fly out of MSY. We tried to fly out to Portland at 6:35 for our honeymoon on Feb 19. Took us 1.5 hours just to get through bag check and missed our flight. Some people were complaining they had to wait 2 hours in that line. Security was no better for some people as well as they missed flights. It has been a shitshow there. We thankfully got on a flight at 2:55 from being on standby all day, but the only reason that happened is people also missing flights due to bag check and security.

Haven’t seen all the lots full like that recently. Got lucky to find a spot at the credit card lot today.

Just walked up to TSA pre & there was no line at all. If you check bags your screwed. The lines are long for that. Just don’t check bags & you are fine. The less workers you have to physically meet with the better at MSY.

But the entire facility is common-use with limited preferential use arrangements. In other words, there is a lot more utility from each individual gate.

That said, the construction schedule has been known for a while now. Much longer than the 6-ish month horizon for schedules to firm up.
