Deer plot conundrum: Should I plant this weekend?

I always plant the first weekend in October but this year there is no rain in sight. I won't be able to plant next weekend so it's either this weekend or mid-October.
Anyone else facing this dilemma?

I'm not. I usually plant right now too, but there's no rain in site. I'm disked and ready for the most part. Going to wait until I see some rain in the forecast..

I’d wait until the middle of October. We typically plant around the middle of the month but doing it the 20th/21st this year. There is no rain on the 10 day forecast.
I just rode through my plots behind the house a little while ago and had a dust cloud behind me. I’d wait if you can.

Yeah, thanks guys. I think I am going to just wait on some raidn. I know I should wait but wanting to just get it done.
Hogs would probably root it all up anyway.

I planted last weekend and I think I wasted my time. I may get a tote from work and fill it up with water and see if I can at least save some of it. Also planted my winter garden and facing the same thing.

Same here. My place is 3.5 hours from where I live so I told the boss as soon as there's rain in the forecast, I'm taking a vacation day and hauling arse up there.

If you water it you may want to keep watering until we get rain. Reason is you may get the seed to sprout, but without water it will die off.

Plant seed now, just make sure to cover seed very good. Do not pack. Seed will lay dormant until the next rain. Seed isn’t going to die. Cover well or birds will eat your shite

Wait if possible. Can still plant early November if need be.

Got my cart reserved for next weekend and extra help lined up, probably should wait another week or so, but think I am going to go ahead and put the seed in the ground

We were too late and too early, too late to catch those 3 weeks of rain we had and too early to keep the moisture in the ground from causing everything to sprout.
Unless something changes and we start getting rain all our plots will die.

Yeah I almost put mine down two weeks ago on a 20% chance of rain that was showing on the forecast. Well it didn’t happen and I chopped but didn’t plant, walked through a plot today and it was like talcum powder and everything I chopped was still dead.
From the forecast maybe plant i two weeks.
