USA Today early Mock Draft

Released today, the early picks are dominated by defense & O line with the first QB, Ole Miss Corral, going to Washington at 11. Pickett falls to 18 & drafted by the Saints. The writer must be a Saints fan :-)

Would be the only QB I'd be okay with taking in the 1st, but can't see us ignoring needs at OT and DT.
We draft for the lines in the 1st, so we may as well accept it.

I’m fine with Pickett or Corral if they are there. Otherwise, if the WR board is still good, go there. If not, OL.

Saints aren't taking a QB. Payton likes Jamis, Hill, and Book. If they can't resign Jameis, they will pick up a backup in free agency and roll with Hill for a season. None of the first round QBs this year are worthy of a first round pick, but teams are desperate. The Saints are not desperate. They can win a lot of games with a manager at QB. I look for them to take a WR, OG, or safety.

I was never the biggest fan of drafting WR early, but the guys coming out of college are such big time difference makers now that you really need one. It seems like there are 4-5 guys in each draft that are matchup nightmares for defenses right out of the gate, whereas in the past, it took receivers a few years.
Getting one of the top college WR on a rookie deal has to be a priority.
