LOL...for once I agree with McElroy on something...

Worst hire since Dinardo and you koolaid drinking frickers know it.

He would recruit well and get god-like devotion from his players, but I doubt he'd be good with in-game management.

I like McElroy, even though he’s a Bama grad. Used to be good with Danny Kannel on SXM radio, dude knows football inside and out.
Same here. I still listen to the show sometimes but I liked it better with McElroy.

It seems like everybody but the folks on this board think it's a homerun hire
Considering the the content that gets posted on this board, this is probably not a bad sign for LSU.

There were folks on this board telling me Mike fricking Tomlin would be a terrible hire. True story.

would be the first black head coach of LSU Football and on par with Tomlin.

Old deep rooted hatred for ND. When I was young, I asked my dad who he was rooting for that day and he said LSU and whoever is playing against ND. It runs deep in the south.

The trouble this or any other message board has is differentiating between "splash" and "homerun".
Yes, this is a homerun. What is the list of coaches at the P5 level with this high of winning % AND have made it to the CFB playoffs who are willing to leave their team.
Riley- he gone to the left coast
Petersen- still retired
Mark Dantonio- still retired too, an no where as good as Petersen
Chip Kelly- ok, there's one.
So after Riley left for USCw to meet those metrics we're down to the two Kelly's. I prefer Brian in this case.
Jimbo, Kirby, Day, & Saban aren't leaving.
So while not a splash hire, because primarily of offensive stats, it is still a homerun. That list above is short- 6 non-retired names, 2 even plausible- and that makes it a homerun hire.
Now he has to produce. And there are concerns, granted.
This can't be a swan song job for him. I don't know what idiot would choose the SEC West for such so I'm assuming it isn't that. But if you want to preach resumes, this is a homerun... without a splash.
And if he brings Freeman with him, and I don't care what Freeman has said in the past- put a damn offer on the table, a good one- this becomes at least a 2-run dinger, maybe even a 3 run. There's only one grand slam.

Yet someone just asked Moscana, “Who made the better hire- Florida or LSU?”

Best hire out there this year and no one knew he was interested

Freeman’s wife will probably still want to stay in the Midwest

I certainly would. Has he ever had to game plan for a spread offense and a 3-4 defense with multiple disguised blitzes or coverage shifts?
Thought so.

GMac is one of the better analyst/announcers. He's knowledgeable and despite being an ex Bammer, he's not a homer.

Which is exactly why I like the hire and why others should as well. I think he should definitely bring in a young innovative offensive mind at OC but he’s ran a big time program with restrictions about as good as you possibly could in this day and age of CFB.

This is like the MSM trying to spin the Democrat agenda.

$9m to a shrimp boat captain and now $12m to some amateur carpenter? I guess we'll never learn.

Please, please, please…
Don’t tell me you actually think this is a worse hire than Miles and Orgeron?
If so, i am very concerned that you will reproduce and foster your stupidity onto another generation.
If trolling…
Nice job
