Assurance from the top

Its been mentioned on this board that SW has been telling people that we will be very happy with the hire, at this late date. (by the way, we have been consistently hearing this message for a few weeks) He is trying to assure people who have given money to the university that their money is being used well.
As fans, we should feel really good about this. Scott knows:
1) He has his guy.
2) The guy is someone that will be well received here
If Scott Woodward had missed on a couple of big names and then had to scramble to find someone else (a second tier candidate) there is no way he would then be going around assuring people. He would either say nothing or be much more nuanced. He would be trying to lower expectations, not raise them at the very end of the search. Have faith!

Define well received, because there’s a bunch of dip-shits on this board who think you go after Billy Napier when the AD has a blank check in his hand.

...you mean like floating a final 3 that includes 2 non-starters so that the 3rd option looks better?
To me, hearing Stoops and BoB named today has been the biggest tell so far. It tells me he struck out on his big fish (Riley) and is going to Aranda.

If you're just going to hire Aranda, why all the stupid mid season theatrics?
He hadn't even had any marquee wins at that point in the season. You could have just fired O on the 27th and hired Aranda next week.

I read this when it was posted. Who did it come from here?
Assuming SW actually said this… he would immediately drop massively in approval ratings if he didn’t have feel GREAT about having this locked up. He doesn’t seem to be the guy that would make that type of mistake.

Woodward is not Jesus Christ. He's human and fallible. Maybe he does have his man or maybe he's desperately kicking the can down the road hoping something falls into place. Time will tell.

I can confirm that SW has in fact made such statements.
