Just saying, Campbell hire would very closely resemble the baseball search. Not saying I would be disappointed.

Both confirmed that LSU hasn't reached out to Napier as of Monday. Aranda is solid, but doesn't have longevity as head of a program that Campell/Napier have.

This sounds really similar to the same crap some other reporter put out yesterday or the day before. The more I see or hear these talking heads repeating the same thing as other reporters/talk shows, the more I believe that SW really has kept this quiet.

I like campbell and his oc.

They use the tight end well.

People who know football know matt campbell is a good coach.

Tell me your #1 choice and I will find a comparable candidate who failed.

I would put Jimbo and Riley as the clear cut 1a and/or b choices. Guys with multiple conference titles.

Napier is a better risk than Campbell.

No saying he is the ideal Hire but he would be a tremendous upgrade over the last 2 coaches we have had.

He should be expected to win a NC within first 3 years like last 2 coaches we had, agree?

Don't bring facts here. There is no coach good enough for LSU obviously, we should just shut the program down

Dude is 41 and has coached in 7 bowl games.

Aranda is 45 and has coached in 0. Aranda has exactly 0 awards.

How many times has Aranda’s QB thrown over 300 yards? Twice.

In 20 games.. his QB has thrown for over 300.. twice.

He’s ready for the SEC.

He’s turned down several NFL jobs. He’s a helluva coach who’s very process oriented.

He’s also very Saban-esque when it comes to focusing moreso on being the best at what you do. Compete against yourself, not your opponent type shite.

Crazy how Scott's hair in real life ALWAYS looks exactly like the pic on that particular ID or pass.

On Campbell... if the group interviewing or vetting him like what they hear about recruiting strategies, goals, and especially methods (including HOW to use the other 9 coaches) then go for it.

Mitigate that risk, make him plan or declare his staff, and he's qualified. No one is perfect [that is available] and, with that caveat, he's a pretty damn good fit.

One thing I've noticed about coaches that have come out of Toledo over the last 15 years is they bring a good culture to a program. And that includes several assistants.

There's bigger risks out there, many of them. The list of lesser risk hires is small.

Again, he may be a great coach. We are a top 5 job we don’t need to hire the “he might can do it at the high level candidate” we need to be hiring the guy that has done it at an elite level.

Our fan base has a major interiority complex.

For crying out loud, who the hell made the comment, DiNardo was a blah hire. This is not the same program that had to hire DiNardo.

We’ve got to kick the defeatist attitude, we are not in the same place that we were in 1995 or 1999 when DiNardo and Saban were hired. In that time period, we had to roll the rice on the up and comer. And I get Saban paid off in a big way, how many Hallman’s and DiNardo’s did we weed through first.

Act like we are an elite program and hire an elite coach, not the up and comer.

ETA . Based on past performance, I think Woody sees it this way too.

Stop comparing Jay Johnson to Campbell. Jay had done it at an elite level, Campbell has not.

and who is that? Other than the Iowa guy, no one has Campbell as their #1, I know I dont, but if that is who we end up with, we got a very good coach.

Top 5 job doesnt mean you get a Top 5 coach, those guys dont move often, if at all. He very well may pull Riley ( i hope that is who you are talking about when you say hire an elite coach and not Aranda), he is my #1 but if he doesnt, Matt Campbell is a excellent fall back option.

Georgia, Ohio State, OU, et al. all hired assistant coaches as their HC’s. Do they have defeatist attitudes too?

How are those hires working out for them? Hire the best damn coach. Period

OSU and OU promoted from within.

UGA is not on the same level as LSU.

ETA. Completely agree about hiring the best coach. That’s not likely to be the guy coming off a 6-6 season.

What difference does that make? They are still "elite" jobs that didn't go out and get a "elite coach". Dont move the goalposts now
