with your rationale we would've never hired Saban. You would've said let's go get Steve Spurrier.

You’re comparing apples and oranges. If you don’t understand how our program today is not the same program it was in 1999, then you’re proving my point at the fundamental level.

We were not a top 5 job then. We are today, largely because of the groundwork Saban laid. But we don’t have to hope we guess right on an up and comer at this point, we should be able to go out and get someone that has a better pedigree.

You keep pounding this drum that Campbell must not be any good because the school he coaches isn't beating everyone and winning titles. By your logic the NFL would not have any players from smaller, unsuccessful programs. The reality is that people who understand what talent looks like in a particular field can identify it in someone even when their environment is not the best.

I'm not hoping for Campbell as the top pick, but if he's the pick it's still a homerun that people should be excited about. Look at the history of that program, then look at it since he arrived. Actually watch some of his games. I've watched him knock off ranked teams in the past couple of years, and you can see the effect of his and his staff's coaching on that program. He runs it the right way and focuses on the long-range goals more than just the rah rah stuff you get sometimes from young new coaches.

He is good. What I see from your analysis so far is that you looked at some boxscore overall coaching record and determined the guy can't coach. You would have balked at the Saban hire, as well (he was only 34-24-1 at MSU before coming here). Do real research and watch actual games before dumping a candidate so vehemently.

That is at Iowa state.

Iowa is not exactly the easiest place to recruit which is why they have been so terrible before he got there! He would have to step up his recruiting here, but let’s be real Lsu is a much easier place to recruit than Iowa st. We will never have a problem recruiting, we need a coach that can develop when they get here! I think it’s obvious that Campbell can do that.

No saying he is the ideal Hire but he would be a tremendous upgrade over the last 2 coaches we have had

So you are going to be ok with us hiring a coach that is looking at a 6-6 season in the face? Nevermind the fact this was supposed to be his best team ever there and he could possibly go 6-6. You guys fall in love and make excuses, and ignore the facts, when you know deep down she's gonna ruin your life!

And keep them. In this new era coaches that are skilled at this will excel. It’s a different sort of leadership that is required.

Crazy how people are all over the place with this search.

This is what happens when a competent AD searches for the perfect fit at a big time university w/o all the BS smokescreens & leaks to the media.

When the Media scum don’t have any ‘Chum’ in the water they are forced to just make shite up so people will read their crappy papers & articles!!

He’s in year 6 and is 6-5 going into the final weekend of a VERY mediocre Big 12.

This is his program at ISU now in every aspect and they are a very average team in a very average conference. No, that doesn’t excite me.

Just because analyst and pundits keep telling us how great of a coach he is doesn’t make him a great coach.

We should not be settling for someone with his resume given our budget and state of our program.

It would be extremely disappointing if he is the hire.

I really doubt their sources know anything. Woodward is keeping this very close to the vest. No one knows anything, we should have faith in Woodward and see what happens when Woodward and LSU announce the hire.
