How would you deal with a bad and lazy careless co-worker?

So, I work in archives pushing papers and working as a notary for a medium to large university (redacted for obvs reasons) HR hires a boomer to oversea our collection. Fine. The problem is he has no history of working in a university or prior experience with metadata, collections or old Dewy! (You need a master's degree in museum studies or Information Science - he has an MBA in finance).
Anytime a mistake is made, and pointed out they lose their shite like Bill Burr does on stage. Ten people in our department have already filled complaints about his behavior and sexual remarks towards our female coworkers. The biggest problem we've noticed? They don't care about learning to improve!
The problem is they are best buddies with a high ranking sports coach, athletic director and the university president. they all felt bad - they were fired from a job on wall street and bam they get a job here without any sorta proper hiring process. Worse of all - they somehow managed to lose valuable primary sources of Andrew Jackson in the process without taking any of the blame!
What would you do ot lounge? Should I start looking else where for a job?

Move his desk down to the basement, give him a can of Raid, and see if it works its lf out.

No way you have a job at a university. Do you even proof before sending?

I’ll ask my coworkers and will report back.

He should get someone to “oversea” that for him.

I almost fell asleep just reading your description of your job

If you look at his history, he really gets some bites on his stink bait. Not bad.

Exactly - plus most universities use library of Congress (LC) cataloging (not Dewey)
And archivists don’t usually catalog anyway.

well for starters try sticking to your job on the grill and let him handle the fry station alone, maybe turn off the frier alarm when he isnt looking so he messes them up

He’s not going anywhere. They don’t want age discrimination litigation.
If it bothers you that much, find another job. Great market for employees.

That cracked me up…also what I was thinking. The original post hurt my mind reading it.

Bro, this world has more pressing concerns than a lazy library employee

Easy.
It’s called focus on your job and don’t worry about his.
