Wheel of Time - Season 1 - ABSOLUTELY NO BOOK READERS AT ALL
Posted on 11/22/21 at 11:02 am
Posted on 11/22/21 at 11:02 am
This thread is for those that want to discuss the show that HAVE NOT READ THE BOOKS AT ALL.
If you have read the books, you should NOT COMMENT AT ALL IN THIS THREAD. AT ALL. Even if it is not a spoiler, do not comment in this thread (that includes me).
There should be no comments whatsoever about how the books are changed in any way.
Those who have NOT read the books, please post in this thread and discuss the show.
This is to discuss the show, and show alone.
Book readers simply couldn't understand the concept in the other thread so I converted that one to a Book Readers thread.

Kind of a bizarre reaction. Quit being a child.
Let those who have not read the books enjoy something and discuss without the incessant pussified bitching in the other thread.

I watched the first two episodes. Want to watch episode three tonight.
It wasn't bad, but something about it felt very young-adult fiction-esque. Perhaps it was the generic minotaur creature army and the cheap looking costumes.
I am also distracted by the red haired guy who looks exactly like Anakin Skywalker in Episode II.

in their defense, it started out as a topic that mainly book readers would be excited about. 90% of the conversation was book readers getting amped or crying (myself included) about the trailers, not new fans or people mildly interested before the first episode dropped. then a spoiler thread got moved over to the book board, which i rarely frequent.
welcome any and all Hodors/Trollocs. my wife will be joining you in the adventure.

I would like to say I am, but in all honesty, I'm not an avid enough reader to get through 14 books, so I'll take a TV adaptation that has to make a lot of changes to fit into a 1 hour episode as long as the general idea of the story stays the same.

Overall I liked it and am looking forward to the next episodes but it still seemed like a bit of a rough start.
- They threw way too much information without enough background at you.
- At times it felt more like a network television show than a high budget premium cable show. I'm talking NBC, not Syfy, so not terrible, but it's obvious a lot of the budget went into the army of bad guys. They looked great.

WoolHeads would be a more appropriate moniker for WoT. (sorry couldn't help myself on that one, I will see myself out of this thread)

Team Hodor = those who didn’t read the books?

I watched the 1st three episodes and will probs keep it up. It’s kind of a poor man’s LOTR, but I love LOTR, so I’m good with it.
Can be a bit too much like lotr at points though. Episode 1 ending with “some call it the 3rd age, it was born in the mountains of mist” was a bit of a “oh come on, really?” moment

I’ll likely knock out 2 and 3 later this week.
But my post from the other thread:
I'm not a WoT book reader. I've watched just Episode 1 so far. I've enjoyed it but there's something "missing" from this show for me so far. I can't quite put my finger on it though.

There is clearly no way to segregate this topic.

They’re just so eager to let everyone know that they read the books much akin to CrossFitters, vegans and people from Texas.

I have seen the first three episodes and I had this same reaction. I think that I am not invested in any of these characters. I don't root for one or the other. I am sure we will get their back stories but, for now, they are just characters that I find bland.

Watched a three episodes. It's ok, hope it gets better. Mole on the girls nose is distracting.Waiting for hairs to sprout.

Pretty much describes my experience.
I haven't read the books.
I thought Rosamund Pike and Daniel Henney were good in their respective roles.
The young actors just weren't doing it for me.
