You know, man, you crack me up. You’re a fan of OU, correct? If so, it’s kind of an odd thing for you to criticize other fans. You say we’re delusional, and you poke fun where you can. But we’re all fans just like yourself. No one here is making a hire, and I’d be shocked if anyone is more than just a fan. We’re excited about the potential of hiring a good coach, whether that coach happens to be LR or not. The speculation and potential is fun and something to be excited about. What’s to criticize about that? Why do you feel superior for something you have no hand in? What’s with the smug debasing of a group of fans you have nothing to do with? Over something that you will not receive any credit for? I am honestly curious.

It seems near certain that he's Woody's #1 guy. Whether he accepts is up in the air. Maybe Riley himself knows for certain but no one else does. Not even Woody until pen hits paper. Possibly not even Riley.

Put yourself in Woody's shoes. If he and Riley's agent feel good about the money and really do have a MOA, but you know if heat gets too much it could derail and scare Riley off. Wouldn't you put out smoke to other candidates. I would tell every reporter it is not Riley, it is BOB, Aranda, Stoops, Napier. It is the obvious play. Same thing from Riley's camp. It is a pretty simple play to tell a white lie to get the press looking in a different direction.

If there hasn't been some kind of announcement that OU and Riley agreed to an extension then it isn't over yet.
Even if we're just being played by Riley, there is no way he's making 7-8 million, gets offered 12 million and doesn't get an extension/raise from OU.
Until we hear that, I believe.

I think it’s Riley or Aranda. Either way, I think Scotty has someone on the hook. Now he’s throwing out all of these others names around attempting the throw the media off.
Woodward isn’t hiring no BoB or Mark Stoops. For frick’s sake’ look at Woodward’s history of hiring coaches. Look at those hires, and then compare those to what’s being fed to the media right now lol

They might not have to match dollar for dollar but they'll have to be in the same ballpark.

OU believes their brand sells itself and they aren’t willing to overpay a HC because they never have. Problem with any type of salary match is the looming $76-$80 million buyout in the Big 12. This is a serious issue in the OU athletic department regardless of what any of their fans say. They are fronting that money to hopefully get that money back in the SEC but it won’t be immediate and the timing they get the money back depends on their immediate success in the SEC. So matching would mean essentially fronting $100 million or more just on a gamble that OU continues their dominance in the Big 12 in the SEC. The other side of that coin is Riley were to stay, this would create even more of a pressure cooker at OU. This is a topic of discussion in the OU AD.

When you haven't won a NC in as long as Oklahoma, you really need this type of stuff to feel better about your own team.
Lincoln Riley is all they have there to cling on to. Championships are in their rearview and when they hit the SEC they'll end up being as good or worse than ATM. If Lincoln goes too then it will be very dark days for them. That's why they're obsessed with this board right now.
Meanwhile, we all would hope to have Lincoln but we also know someone like O can win a championship here so we will be OK with whoever the hire is.
Tldr: LR is OUs only glimmer of hope to stay relevant, and LSU fans are just having fun with it.
