I think both these guys are solid coaches and could do good things here. I think Napier might have the slight edge because he is already living down here and LOVES the culture so there would be no adjustment. He would also have the edge in recruiting.

The two coaches seem similar in there coaching philosophies so a toss up there imo.

What say you?

Napier, Aranda, fickell, Riley, Campbell would all be fine by me. Hell I’d even take lane.

Inb4 Napier won head to head, Campbell. He's beaten Oklahoma twice and generally been a thorn in Rileys side. He's also won the fiesta bowl while Napier best bowl is the lending tree bowl

Napier. Has experience recruiting top tier talent and also has experience developing lower star recruits. Also knows the lay of the land for recruiting and personnel development relationships.

Both are program builders though

Campbell, easily. Not even a question.
Campbell wasn't too egotistical to take the Iowa State job.

Napier thinks himself only below Saban.

My order would be Riley, Aranda, Napier, Campbell.

So did Brick Haley.

has experience developing lower star recruits.

What does this mean? He's only ever going to get lower star recruiting at ULL. He has no other choice. Even with the "most talent" in his conference he has yet to actually win the conference.

This might help when you have to rummage around for more diamonds in the rough but at LSU you don't have to do that as the name recognition counts for a lot. Lsu exclusively recruits known commodities and sends guys to the NFL. There's nothing so special about Napier's Louisiana connections that a guy like Campbell couldn't come in and replicate.

Most HS coaches in Louisiana WANT their kids to go to LSU.

The guy who has coaches at the P5 level and beaten top teams, not the guy who happens to coach an hour from BR so people think he’s good because of name recognition.

frick napier.

If he coached at another sun belt school no one on this board would even know his name.

my list is prettysimple and has been(assuming jimbo, fickel and cristobal are out for sure)

1) Riley
2) Aranda
3) Napier
4) campbell
5) Kiffin

fist two are no brainers. Of the bottom 3 i think Campbell is a better coach than Napier on game day, but i think Napier is much much better recruiter and overall program builder.

I think kiffin would be very up and down, but the highs would be high and they would be fun as frick.

I am honestly good with any of them. I do hope Billy does not go to UF. If he does.....posters like TTT will see why we were so high on him.
