You aren't there yet
7 can be kind of mixed but its still ok.
8-10, especially 10, are considered "The Slog".
10 is just one of the worst books in any series.

That's weird. So if you're a WoT fan you have to like the show? Seems like Reddit would be a place where you could give some criticism.

Hang in there. Those books are definitely "the middle". The story lines for perrin, elayne, egwene, and mat are often painfully slow, but, especially on reread for me, helped make more realistic the necessary transition for all of those characters to go from their initial youth and inexperience and naivete, into the formidable leaders they will be required to become in the end game.
Having said that, a couple of those storylines could have been condensed and saved a book
but every book has some gems

I still really enjoyed Book 7, but it was my least favorite of the first 7 books. I believe it ends very well.
Book 8 and 9 are alright, but Book 10 is a tough one to read. The last books are worth the slog.

Books 7 and 8 are fine, the main problem is they were supposed to be one book that got split into 2 which means they are much slower than they should be.
Book 9 to me is wildly underrated, has some of the best sequences in the entire series.
The less said about book 10 the better. It is definitely the low point of the series.

This has not been my experience at all. Reddit seems to be much more pro-book, while not necessarily being as anti-show as like this site.
But there are plenty of people posting on reddit that didnt like the show so I'm not sure why that one poster would have been banned.

There are zero gems in Crossroads of twilight, it is just straight terrible. I would agree about the rest of the books having at least some gems though.

Some of the conversations between Mat and Tuon were bright spots for me, but those laughs didn't excuse the book.

The slog of ten is next I suppose.

I rarely say this about anything, but you could *probably* get away with reading a re-cap of COT and be fine.
Essentially nothing happens at all. The Mat scenes are somewhat worth reading just for some light fun but that is it.

Back half of Book 9 is awesome. Book 10 just get through then RJ rights the ship in 11 and Sando takes it home in 12-14.

Man I don't see how yall make it through so many slow books. Once I finished book two and yall said there were multiple that were worse than book two I had to check out. That's too much waisted reading for me.
I think more than anything though for me was Jordans writing style, not the story. So so so much stuff written that just didn't progress the story. Their random thoughts and dreams, descriptions of rooms and clothing, the ground and sky. I was like at some point I'm hoping we can get back to the story.
I certainly get the appeal though of the story just in two books though. And I'm glad I read them just so I know how bad the TV series was in comparison. After my full Abercrombie re-read I might try book three in WoT just to see if it picks up for me.

I personally don't love Book 2 although its still fine. Books 4-6ish (I like 7 as well) and books 11 through 14 are all good to me.

Beats the hell out of talk radio or terrible music on the radio. Plus just because a book is slow to develop doesn’t mean it isn’t good.

I may just not have read enough of the genre, but I really don't find any slower than other huge series. While not every viewpoints was my favorite, I very rarely ever felt my time was being wasted (Book 10 being the big culprit of that imo).

O well yea if you're listening to it then I can see it being easier to get through than reading it. I never gave the audiobooks a shot.

You didn't even make it through Book 2, and haven't even essentially met the best character in the series yet, or gotten to anywhere close to the best books in the series.

I know I haven't gotten to the best part. I decided to stop because I didn't particularly enjoy the first two and had 1,000's of meh pages and worse stuff (according to the board) ahead of me. It no longer had any appeal to me. But as I said, I get why others love it.

I get this. I'm 150 pages into book 4 and I don't find myself enthused to read it every night. I think I'm going to have to put it down and come back to it. I know others have raved about 4-6. So, I'm sure it gets much better. However, it hasn't pulled me in like I thought it would by this point.
