The first 3 episodes are released this Friday at some point on Amazon Prime, and then weekly after that. 8 episodes. There will also be animated shorts detailing the Origins of the WOT world available as well.

Show has already been renewed for Season THREE.

There will be FULL BOOK SPOILERS in this thread.

People are going to the world premiere in London tonight, and review embargoes end tomorrow, hence starting this thread now.

I will start a Woolhead Thread on the M/TV Board later in the week. Thinking Season Long thread instead of weekly episode threads.

Anyway, soon time to discuss!

HERE IS A LINK TO THE WOOLHEADS NO BOOK SPOILERS THREAD FOR THOSE THAT WISH TO DISCUSS.

Just finished watching the first 2 episodes at the early premiere screening in DC.

Happy to answer any questions anybody may have.

Overall, loved it.

I'm gonna avoid too much online this week until I get to see it - seems to be getting very positive reactions from most fans though.

I’m glad to hear it. I really don’t want to know too much quite yet.

What did you think of the major changes, without being overly specific?

Telegraph has the first review up. 4/5. Snarky article and lots of comparisons to GoT and LOTR but very positive for the most part.

Gonna come across as pumping sunshine but I loved all of the major changes they made.

My favorite part of episode 1 was not in the books.

Also the one big change everyone was worried about is done very well and does not feel “woke” or out of place.

That’s good to hear. What did you think of the “look” of the show, including practical and special effects?

How about the acting?

Do you think non fans of the books and non fantasy fans in general will get into it?

The look is of a fantasy epic trying to rival GoT. Crazy sceneries and sets. Trollocs look even better than the trailers. LOTS of blood. Some of the fight scenes looked a little choppy.

But overall everything is solid and there’s lots of cool stuff that you still havent seen (especially with one power)

Acting by and far is the strongest aspect of show. Everyone, and I mean everyone, is FANTASTIC. Josha is going to be a perfect rand. I was so impressed. He truly gets the role. Barney was also incredible and its a shame he wont be back next season.

My biggest fear was moraine trying too hard to be badass but she is definitely more chill than she is in the trailers. Nynaeve is a bad asssssssssssss. The ending of episode 2 gave me chills (as well as her scenes during winternight)

And yes I think non-fantasy fans will be able to get into it specifically because of the changes they’ve made. The soul of the series is there and I think people are really gonna love it.

These have been my biggest two takeaways in the lead up the last few years and why I've become pretty optimistic.

The actors seem to be really taking to their roles, reading the book, mentioning subtle character traits that indicate that really get their roles.

And the series seems to be in very good hands with tons of people working on and leading the project who are fans and care about the story.

Egwene is considered to be a candidate but its more because Moraine is confused about the prophecies not because they’ve actually changed them.

They do not go in depth with the prophecies other than its a child born in this area and is a certain age (which is pretty similar to the books)

Egwene is not going to be the dragon reborn.

Edit: I wouldnt even for sure say Moraine 100% thinks Egwene could be a candidate. It really is pretty vague. It’s much closer to the books than I had anticipated. Just are making Moraine’s understanding of the prophecies much more vague as to create more mystery.

Lots and lots of Critic reviews are flowing in for those who have seen the first 6 episodes.

Most have been positive.

Rolling Stone did not like it AT ALL. Ripped it to shreds a bit.

Most others have been pretty enthusiastic.

This is great news, gives me hope because that rags' opinions are generally diametrically opposed to mine.

I'm really interested to see how this plays out in terms of viewership by nation / world region.

This could be the first truly internationally marketed show of this kind - Game of Thrones got there I believe but it wasn't designed and geared for that, also pretty sure the international audience had a lot of pirated viewership from what I've read.

Exclusive scene release from IGN - digging it, definitely some changes from the book but seems like mainly giving a chance for dialogue which helps outline character emotions and motives that we get mainly through internal monologues.
