I haven't been keeping up with the production for S2 at all, but it just came out that they cast Aviehnda.

With a black ginger. They really just cannot help themselves.

The Dragon Reborn can't be too powerful, and also can't like white women.

Great job Amazon

Thing is, she's a very pretty actress and has done good work. There's just NO way you cast her as Aviendha unless you are 100% trying to prove a point. And that point is frick you, my agenda is more important than your world renowned 14 book series.

I guess I shouldnt be, but I have to admit I'm surprised people are still getting upset about this. Its modern Hollywood, you have to either accept it or quit watching pretty much anything.

The casting was the best part of the show, and this girl was great in Killing Eve season 3, so I'm on board for this.

Besides, if we're being honest, this actually fits my head canon of Avi better than the traditional fandom. I just think its stupid if Aviendha looks so similar to Elayne, but then you randomly have Min as the 3rd love who looks nothing like either? Doesnt really make sense.

Is this disagreement? It is regarded by pretty much everyone that the casting was spot on and the clear strength of the show. Not sure how anyone can even argue that.

The show's problems were much more related to plot choices, adaptation choices, and the covid/actor leaving outside stuff.

Did we ever get the reason Mat left/was recast? That dude looked just like what I pictured Mat would be in the books.

No one has said anything officially about what happened with Mat, but the most persistent rumor is the actor refused to get vaccinated.

I'm sure it will come out at some point in the near future.

Of course it is. Even Rosamund Pike was a bit stiff. Alvaro Morte was the only performance that I would classify as good. Egwene was just completely awful. Nyneave, I blame more on writing and some adaptation choices they made.

That's fair. I do wish he got more screen time. How they handled Rand and Matt's time with Thom paints the picture a bit too much for me. He did well for the time he was given.

The Wheel of Time boss says book changes were “essential” to show’s success

Success? What?

quote:

During the Q&A, showrunner Rafe Judkins was asked what change from the books had received the most positive feedback. While there are many Wheel of Time fans who have hated on the show for the changes, Judkins holds that they changes were “essential” and been received well.

“You know it’s been amazing the amount of positive feedback we’ve received on a lot of the changes, and I think that one of the main ones is just how we structured the season and built the Aes Sedai and Tar Valon into it. It was really important to me from the very beginning that we had to…you know, we had to keep this show on the air so that we can make it to the end of the story,” the showrunner said, laughing.

I bet it has been "amazing" that any positive feedback was received

So basically no positive feedback

Amazon ruined one of my favorite books of all time. Hopefully it gets a bit better and they seen it to someone willing to shed the money to make it like it should be, and at least partially correct

Try to leave a comment on any site affiliated with this production, including the book editor's site, Tor, that in any way questions or seeks to have a discussion of the merits of the casting choices or storyline changes, and see it deleted with the quickness.

I am certain that any future effort using the internet, this site excluded, to retrospectively assess the popular opinion of fans in the pre- and early-production period of the WOT, will find only glowing approval.

I quit after episode 1. I did follow closely here, hoping to find fans of the source material expressing relief and pleasure at the show's direction, but it sounds like it only got worse.

And no poster here more sincerely and consistantly held to the "let's give it a chance before we nitpick it to death" position, to the point that I was sure he/she was either willfully blind or just trolling us all, but when you've lost Funbunch. . .
