It was a fantastic ending and is what elevates it above Book 10 imo

Well, after an extremely disappointing to say the least S1, I have not been following the production of S2 and 3 very much at all.
I just saw that S2 finished filming almost a year ago...200+ days ago. That is pretty odd to have finished that long ago and there is no release date, trailer, or anything yet.
Apparently they have also wrapped writing for s3 and are beginning pre-production on that now.
I'm not sure if S2 could be worse than s1, maybe the learned some lessons, but I doubt it.

There is almost no chance it will be worse. Even if everything else stays the same, the lack of covid shutdowns and losing a key actor in the middle of the season will ensure it rises above season 1 if only slightly.
But people who were much less excited about season 1 have been talking up season 2 as being much better, though who knows if that is worth anything.
Supposedly the rumor is that the show is probably dropping around May/June which means the trailer will probably drop in the March/April range.

I would imagine for you and other die hard fans it can only get worse. At least as far as staying true to the story. As seasons go on, shows tend to get further and further away from the books. For it to be this far off from source after just one season, it's going to be hard for them to reign it back in.
I just don't get certain show runners. It was the same with Foundation on Apple+. Here you have one of the greatest sci-fi stories ever by probably the greatest sci-fi author ever and you have show runners that go "nah, I think my version of the story is better than his."

It completely rips you out of a fantasy setting when everyone isn’t white in a city? You’d probably be pretty unhappy walking around most major cities in the US. Like I dont understand what is unrealistic about people not being white?
FFS. Grow up, stupidass.

The thing is Randland IS diverse. Very diverse, every small country has their own culture and different ethnicity.
But they were mostly confined to that small country.

Randland was diverse in a way that made sense. Not diverse in a “modern casting checkbox” nonsense way. It’s well known at this point that modern casting (in the US and UK at least) requires diversity checkboxes even when it doesn’t make sense i.e. actors are hired due to their skin color. So it’s galling to even have to have this conversation.

I can understand places like Tar Valon or Caemlyn being diverse.
But the Two Rivers being diverse was absolutely absurd.

About 80% through memory of light.
Matt is by far my favorite character, but I am afraid the show will not do him justice if season 1 is any indication.
Perrin is my second favorite story honestly, and they really butchered him the first season.
This has been a good series to read but i feel with time in between books I forgot some characters and would need to go back to remember who they were etc.

i feel sorry for those that were introduced to this world by the shitty amazon adaption. WOT should only be consumed through the genius writing of Jordan and Sanderson.

Whatever you think of the show, the fact that it has brought so many new fans to the book series will always be a positive in the grand scheme of things.
Obviously, I also am still holding out hope the next couple seasons get a lot better.

They finished production on S2 well over a year ago, have already started on writing and pre-production of S3, and we haven't heard a single peep about S2 airing, not even a teaser trailer.
Its very very very odd.

they are probably desperately re-shooting it due to negative feedback on S1. guess they're finding out that throwing a ton of money at a project doesn't buy quality and success

Its not that odd actually. For one, there is a huge backlog with cgi stuff that is affecting every show like this. Shadow and Bone just came out with its season 2 on Netflix after a similar period of time. Same thing is projected to happen with House of the Dragon season 2. And part of the problem with WOT's last 2 episodes was the cgi was terrible because amazon rushed it onto their service because they were using it as a guinea pig for their LOTR show.
Anyway, if you follow those in the know on this, seems like Amazon is going to aim for September/October this year, which makes some sense from a timing standpoint.

Watched the show, didnt like it, wont ever read the books now.
Sometimes it has the opposite effect.

Your loss. The books are awesome. The world is one of the best fantasy worlds ever.

New video dropped at JordanCon. Nothing major, just a few castings officially confirmed and some q and a.
Main thing was a look at Aviendha, Bain and Chiad in their maidens get up introducing themselves and using maiden hand talk. That part looked really good.
Also Jay Duffy who many speculated was playing Gawyn (or Galad) is actually Dain Bornhald which should play into Perrin's storyline in s2 and s3.
Still no date for s2, but more informed speculation that September/October is probably the date since Amazon will likely make that time period their annual Fantasy show with WoT and Rings of Power trading off years.

They (Amazon) for sure aren’t hyping this season as much as they did for season 1
