I get it but it also reminds me of the SNL scared straight sketch where Kenan Thompson and Tracy Morgan keep shouting "Cause this is real" at Bill Hader

Every player on that bus has heard coaches go off like that ever since Pop Warner league. So it loses some of its shock value after awhile. OTOH the guy holds your scholly in the palm of his hand so you can't completely ignore him.

And its hars to take this stuff super seriously when Jeff Banks literally went clubbing after the Baylor loss

It also loses impact when you have no idea what the emotional lunatic is saying.

Sounded like someone was laughing while he was going on

I GOT MY arse KICKED...AND YOU MUTHAfrickAS WANT TO LAUGH?!?
I can't speak for the players but I was definitely laughing.

This article from Burnt Orange Nation has some pretty good points: LINK
quote:
The team struggles with tough coaching
quote:
The team lacks player leadership
quote:
While some in the media chose to focus on the language used by Davis in the video, former players took more notice of the lack of policing by other players.
quote:
Only issue i had with the video is that it was a coach and not another player!!! On our teams it would have been one of us or our brothers doing the same!! LINK

At least somebody at Texas seems to care.
But honestly, I got yelled at this bad after a fricking Junior High game once by a psychotic coach on the pitch black bus ride home. The general public just has absutely no clue how much yelling and cussing and arse-chewing threats go on behind the scenes in the game of football.

Yeah, I played football in HS and got chewed like that. If he's raving like a lunatic, I just ignored him (or laughed), but if he was cussing and yelling, but it had some substance, I listened. Yell at me once, I might listen; yell at me twice, I still might listen, yell at me more, I might ignore or even laugh at you. I can take tough coaching, but I need tough coaching and not someone just yelling incoherent profanities.

For the fans it is.
For the players and coaches it's a job.
