This years' version of Saban and Bama ain't like any of the Bama teams Nicky has coach.I look forward to UGA. beating the shite out of them IF they can make the SEC championship game.Post game interview of Saban was very telling; a poorly played game against an inferior team would have him raving ...little Nicky know this team is a shadow of past great teams.

Yes, the old geezer hadn’t won a title since last year!

Not yet. Don’t want LSUs next potential coach tempted to take the Bama job instead.

Saban is getting older. It happens to everyone.

It sure looked liked the SEC office wasn't answering the phone Saturday night. I saw calls go against Alabama that I have seen since before Saban.

Yeah - Jimbo with a third string QB can’t coach…

Yeah just a shell. Already dropped down to #2 in the country…

I watched his post game presser and he was not as mad as expected. However, Bill OBrien will do that do you. Dude is the only coach I know that could screw up the Alabama offense…

Maybe there is a practical reason besides age.

Man he has lost that edge that we're used to seeing. At 70, he had that spectator look at times that is troubling to Bama fans. They didn't look like a Saban led team in all phases.
he will win one more title in 5 years and hang it up

Heading into spring practices Alabama's roster features 19 players who were considered consensus 5-star recruits, in addition to 49 4-star prospects. Combined, that's just under 80 percent of the entire team.

They are #2, but they do not look like the second best team in college football. And not just against LSU, but in many games this year.
Worst team they’ve had in a while, but I think part of it is the loss of talent from the past two seasons. I know they always have to reload, but sometimes the guys in the background just aren’t ready to be center stage, even at Alabama.

Saban could turn it around and win the title this year. Who knows?
But I posted a hypothetical recently on the SEC Rant: What would it take for Saban to get fired?
The answers were ridiculous, of course.
- He could have 10 losing records in a row.
- He would never get fired.
Those are wrong, obviously. Especially as he gets older and they have that "he's lost it" narrative.
There are Bama fans that are pissed off NOW. Also, he rules with an iron fist and continued success is the currency. If there are cracks in the armor, he loses credibility and the downward cycle starts.
Other coaches will start (already have started) the "Saban is old" or "He's nearing retirement" lines during recruiting.
As I said, I'm not predicting this is about to happen. I'm just saying that's how it happens. Old coaches start the decline quickly.

People said the same thing about Saban after LSU beat them in 2010. That he looked old and sick.
Posted on 11/8/21 at 8:57 am to Bjorn Cyborg
The same was said about Bear Bryant.
He waited until 1982 when LSU beat Alabama 20-10 and that was it for him.
He died of a heart attack one month after retiring.
Some say it was because of the LSU loss.

We helped the Bear into retirement with a good old arse whipping. Pretty sure that game was in Alabama, 20-10??
