Baw andBawetts of the OT:Truck Bed Cover recomendations

Just bought one of the last V8 2021 Tundra crew cabs. No self-respecting coonass/redneck wants a twin turbo V6 coming next year. This is my 4th truck since 1993. On each, I've always gone with an ARE color matched fiberglass bedcover. Great for rain protection, but limiting how large a payload can be.
This time I'm going with a trifold for bed flexibility. Sure it'd be great if it was 100% waterproof. But I'll be able to live with a little leakage. I'm at the point to go with an Undercover ArmorFlex. I like the 'bed liner' finish and other methods of operation.
But I can't pull the trigger without the sage wisdom of the OT. How about it? Opinions of my choice and recommendations are welcome.

Bakflip MX4.
Put one on a 21 Silverado about 4 months ago and it has been great. Installed in 1 hour by myself.

Just got rid of my truck and got a 4x4 4Runner.
Has all the truck capabilities and fits into my garage easier. Plus don’t have to worry about the bed

This is all you need. Had mine for over a year now only time I get even a few drops in my bed is at the car wash.

Mine came with the factory hard cover. I like it so far, not had any leaking. It doesn't fold up completely out of the way, but it's not too hard to take off if needed.

I looked at the hardcover options, and didn't like them, personally. I wanted to be very flexible, since the short bed on the crew max is so tiny. I just went el cheapo and got a $200 Tyger cover off Amazon. I have had it now for several years, I am very happy with it.
I am sure you can "make it leak," but I have yet to experience any leaks, including car washes. I can remove it in a matter of seconds, and it includes a storage case. Installation is a breeze, it simply tightens to your bedrails.

Get a shell. I love mine. Color matched to truck paint, commercial grade reinforcement, rack for kayaks/ladders, carpeted and has lighting. Side windows pop out and slides back for ventilation. Front glass comes out to clean easily. $2,500. You can leave out the rack or sliding/pop windows or the reinforcement to get the price down.

Diamond back aluminum bed covers are great. Coated with bed liner and have load ratings for the top. Have a good deal and locking system as well. They aren’t cheap but about the best I had found

I'm sure he'll be happy to haul plywood in his 4runner

capital campers roll n lock.
They installed mine 2 yrs ago. covers the bed and rolls out of the way if you're hauling something higher than the top of the bed.

Great advice that is irrelevant.
You should also tell him where you store your purse.
For those with the backflip. How much room is needed for the section closest to the cab?
I’m trying to decide if I could still fit my in bed toolbox and be able to open the box top.

I have a roll-up on my Tundra, with velcro sides. It's been on there about 16 years and leaks a little, but has been a great addition.
Now they have the retractables. I would definitely consider those.
