Why did "expert program builder" Napier run away from Auburn?

Explain this to me.
For a guy hailed as such a "program builder" cut from the cloth of Saban, why did he run away from a top 15 job in the exact state he was groomed by Saban?
And we've been told he was a tippy-top recruiter at Alabama making in-roads all over the state of Alabama and the south where Bama pulled recruits in his time under Saban. Could he not have utilized his recruiting prowess he developed at Bama at Auburn?
So tell me how being an "expert program builder" and expert recruiter in the exact area Auburn would recruit doesn't make him the PERFECT candidate for Auburn?
Why would Napier run from a taylor-made position for his exact attributes?
And why can a guy like him be such a job-snob anyways? All sorts of great coaches have wanted and pursued the Auburn job, which is a top-15 job, but Napier is somehow "too good" for it?
Either this guy is completely full of shite and he never was offered the job or Auburn offered the job and he decided wasn't capable of building the program, which is strange for a hailed program builder.
If Napier turned down the job he admitted with that action he's not a program builder, at all.

He said he didn’t want to go to a little brother school

Because he wanted the LSU job and the writing was on the wall for Coach O for anyone with eyes.
Any other questions?

Auburn was forcing assistants on him - that's why he turned it down.

100%. Auburn said. "we'll hire the staff".

That's the word.
If it's true Auburn was forcing any coaches on him then I don't blame him. You have to let your HC, especially a coach like that, get his own guys.

He isn’t a program builder and he has a pop gun offense.
If they played LSU TODAY, they would get their asses handed to them. That’s with his “great recruiting” prowess. Dude is what he is a mid level program coach. Fleck was much more impressive.
Sonny Dykes and Danna Holgorsen are way better than this joker.

Auburn put stipulations on assistants

How dumb do you have to be to put more credence on turning down a position vs what he’s accomplished? So happy Woody is in charge and not our ignorant rantards.

Bull shite. Show me the quote from when that happened. Last I looked that little small school guy isn’t being considered for shite.

Go find the quote from the AU AD.

Take it easy Derek. The guy wants to be able to hire His own staff. The fact that you don’t know this proves your opinion is based on VERY limited knowledge. Stop trying so hard. He can’t be worse than O. He’s recruited well but I doubt you know his history

Like what? He hasn’t proved shite to anybody and I don’t for once believe that. Maybe someone like a trainer or whatever. Not an OC or DC or main position coaches.
That’s a complete and utter lie.

I’m so damn tired of this culture’s tendency to propose false dichotomies to try and limit the discussion. Obviously, it’s neither and you deserve the downvotes.

Can’t build a program if you can’t pick your staff.

Running theory in the UL circles is that he knew O was walking a thin line and figured it was only a matter of time before he got canned. Apparently Napier wants the LSU job pretty badly. Take it with a grain of salt.
