Hot Sauce on the Napier Situation

I have some friends involved with the Ragin Cajun Athletic Foundation. I spoke to two of them separately this week and they both said the same thing independently
There is a tentative plan being put into place to hire Napier at Alabama to be the OC and HCIW. The ULL Admin are aware of this and have quietly put together a list of potential Napier replacements. ULL knows at most they have one more season of Napier in place.
If Bill O'Brien leaves after this season (almost assuredly he will) then the OC job at Bama opens up and the Napier Plan may kick in sooner rather than later. If not after this season and that is what Alabama decides it still wants to do, the Napier Plan would definitely be in place after next season.
Saban has an extension to 2028, a HCIW would solve a few things
1. It would allow Saban to coach through as much of the full length of the contract he wants to and control the process of his retirement/replacement completely
2. It would resolve the unknown of a transition to a "new HC" like the FSU transition to Jimbo after Bowden
3. It would allow Napier to grow into the HC job, or flame out, get exposed and be replaced
4. It would be a sustainable narrative for recruiting continuity
A lot of what we are seeing and hearing is agents creating "demand" for their clients with linking them to searches that are in progress or may be in progress soon

That can change fast with an offer to be the head coach at LSU in a few weeks

If Napier goes to Bama and becomes the next Saban I give up football forever

It makes sense to me, but you have to wonder if Napier wants to wait a long time for Saban to retire or jump on an opportunity now.

Is this local hot sauce or hot sauce from a national chain

ULL HC Napier "spurns" LSU to take on OC/HCIW role with Alabama would make a nice splashy headline for them on al.com

I have friends involved with RCAF as well that I just asked about this and they laughed.
Said nobody knows Billy's plans right now MUCH less Alabama's plans, but also said if LSU offered the head job to Billy there's no way he turns it down

Then all the people panicking over the possibility of hiring Napier would be furious that we let bama get the better of us again.

This is definitely going to up the value for Napier

Meh, that sounds funny Saban isn’t going anywhere and picking a HC based off who would be willing to hang out up to 7 years is not what Alabama is gonna do.

that is what I said, but Napier is only 42 whereas Saban is about to be 70
Three seasons of this to 2024 and Napier is 45 going into the 2025 season
I dont know if this rumor is real or not, but to me the story is not about Napier at all, it would be about Saban agreeing to a continuity plan that he completely controls the process of his exit and his replacement

That is quite literally the dumbest "plan" I've ever heard laid out for a hot name coach starring $7-8M annually in the face after the season

He’s not waiting seven years to be the HC in waiting at Alabama as an OC.
Take a step back and think about how stupid that sounds.

When the last time a head coach, even at g5 school, left to be a coordinator even at a power 5. I've seen fcs leave to be a coordinator, but not g5

its probably bull shite, just like everything else is bullshite
we can count on one hand the number of people truly in the "know" and two of them are Sexton and Armstrong

Yeah, Napier ain’t taking OC/HCIW at Bama over LSU. No chance
If those are his 2 options, it’s clear what he’s taking. Now if for some reason LSU doesn’t offer, I could maybe see it.

Sounds like Billy's agent planting this trying to bully LSU into a hire. Better hire me now or miss the next Saban coach! Yeah, not buying this at all. Bama doesn't need this even if they like Napier.
