I will just say that the NY Yankees seem to be one of the few franchises where people don't want to get told they are being too bias to modern day players. The Yankees have always been in a huge market with the best pay. Therefore, they have always attracted the best talent. It was as true in the 40s as it is today. Add in that there were way less teams and winning 9-10 WS in a 20 years span is possible.

Not having Mariano on any greatest Yankees list is a travesty IMO. Rivera is the best at his position ever and did it for 5 WS winning teams and was a WS MVP. I think him doing it in the age he did it, with the longevity, and being the no doubt best at his position ever has to get him on a top 5 list. Yogi was a great catcher, but some will say he's not the best ever at the position. There is no debate that Mariano was

Lakers have had Magic, Kareem, Wilt, Shaq, Kobe, LeBron, etc.

Celtics have had Russell, Bird, Garnett, etc
