I've yet to see a candidate that everyone agrees on, but though he's not my first choice, he's a very close second. I'd be elated with Lincoln Riley.

For those of you whose first choice isn't Riley, would you at least be happy with that hire?

**I don't want to hear it's not possible. It's a hypothetical thread**

Lol you couldn’t make our entire fan base happy if you had Saban as HC, Sean McVey as OC and Mike Vrabel as DC.

I think Lincoln would cause the smallest melt out of all candidates

Absolutely. I bet he’d make Max Johnson, Garrett Nussmeier and Walker Howard very happy too.

Yeah, not only would he be a great hire for his coaching and recruiting but it would be a major bump in our perceived prestige to take the coach from Oklahoma. I think we would have a much better chance if they weren't about to enter the SEC.

I’ve seen better coaches in the Quad and Vrabel’s elbows are too pointy. Hard pass

I think he's another coach of many that could have success here. I question as to why he hasn't gotten it done at Oklahoma. He's been getting stomped in the playoff and has had some really bad losses. What's missing? Where's the issue? Can those things be better at LSU and why will they be if so?

I’ll play the contrarian, both Brady and Aranda schemed circles around Riley in the 2020 semifinal 63-28 beat down. You shouldn’t make a hire based on one game but total body of work, but Riley couldn’t adjust to either side that evening in Atlanta.

I’d be ok with Riley, but he’ll need an elite DC to win the SEC at LSU. Recruits well, no question. He’s also the beneficiary of dominant program in the weakest of the P5 conferences.

I know most here value HC experience, but give me Brady who has NFL experience and his “they can’t frickin stop it” Texas play calling.

There is no college DC that can throw something at LSU that Brady hasn’t seen in the NFL to adjust.

Aranda schooled Riley that night in Atlanta as well, watch the Baylor OU game this year.

It could be that the Big12 schedule just doesn't prepare his teams physically enough for playoff competition. That's really beyond his control. Ask yourself if O and Riley swapped places in 2019, who'd have won? If O and Miles can win titles at LSU, Riley could probably win two or more.

I'm not sold on Brady at all. His resume is WAY too short. His one grand year he had a 1st overall pick at QB, three starting NFL WRs and an NFL RB. His playcalling and offense obviously helped them achieve these things, but we aren't going to have that most years. He's not exactly killing it in Carolina. We need a guy that keeps the train moving when a wheel falls off.

Understandable opinion, it’s why I can’t wait to reevaluate in 2030 on his trajectory. Brady, to me feels like Spurrier in 1987.

If Al Gore had invented the internet by then most here would argue for Archer and criticize Spurrier for small sample set at Duke!

That is the same logic as people who were mad when we hired Saban, because Dinardo destroyed his MSU team in the Independence bowl!
