I think it would be a good hire overall. Offensive genius who has turned around an Ole Miss program and had lots of success at FAU. I know there are red flags with his antics and he doesn’t stay at one place for more than a couple years. However, this is what Kiffin has been working for his entire career. A top 3 college job. With a good d coordinator, we would be lethal.

I don’t want that sonofabitch anywhere near the LSU program.

Wouldn’t be my first choice but take Kiffin before Tucker

While the thought of how great our offense would be under him is enticing, we've had enough off the field drama and theatrics.

Then you are a damn fool

His QB is about to win the Heisman

He’d have elite QBs lining up to play for LSU

It'll be the best thing ever or the athletic office will revert to a Hooters like it was with Miles

Edit: As an OC, I'd love it. A HC, no.

I can ride with Kiffin. Not my first choice but I can get behind this.

What Kiffin would bring to the table in "offensive prowess" would be lost without having a good DC. Plus his immaturity would create all kinds of issues at ANY big-time program. Great OC, not truly HC material.

Kiffin wouldn't win a championship here but we'd be very good offensively and would stay in the lime light. I guess it just depends on what LSU's goal is.

He would be good for the 3-5 years he would stay before either flaming out due to personal issues or leaving. Nothing on his resume suggests anything other than these two outcomes.

Same with Fickell or Aranda without a good OC

If Miles and Orgeron can win a championship here Kiffin can certainly do it.

My first instinct was not no, but hell no. But, after mulling it over for a few days maybe he would be a great hire. He is obviously one of the top, if not the top offense mind in college football today.

I’m sure he would be able to recruit top offensive skill players. Since LSU is one of the top programs in BCS football it would be easier to recruit here than at Ole Miss.

As far as coming here and leaving after a few years, I don’t think that’s as big a problem as some people think. Coach’s generally leave for more lucrative positions. Since LSU has in the recent past been been in top 3-5 in regards to HC salary it would be hard to find a better paying HC job anywhere except maybe Bama. I could see him leaving Ole Miss when Saban’s retires if given the chance, but that would be a major step up. It would be a much smaller step up from LSU to Bama.

If he did come here and was able to take LSU to the BCS playoffs every year there would be no reason to leave. He would be at the top. Any move would be lateral or a step back.

He’s already had a shot at the NFL and that didn’t work out so well. Usually, when that happens and a coach has success on the college level he doesn’t try it again. Especially, if he is one of the highest paid HC’s. Because if he does wash out again he goes back to a mediocre program and spends the next 8-10 years hoping for another shot at a top 3 program.

Whomever takes the LSU HC job is going to have to hire a top DC. Woodward didn’t fire Oregeron to replace him a train wreck. Rest assured the DC and the position coaches will all be quality hires.

The biggest question is, “Is he mature enough to put all the pieces together and manage it once he does?”

Regardless, it’s SW’s job to hire the next HC. As a true Tiger fan, I’ll back whomever he hires and give them the opportunity to sink or swim.

Not my first choice, however it wouldn’t be a devastating hire.
