With all of his limitations, that's pretty impressive. If we can keep the run game working it should open more opportunities for Max to excel. If he can settle down his mechanics will improve and his consistency will get better.

I'd also love to see him square up and throw a deep ball with more power. I know his arm strength isn't much, but I think it looks worse because he's not judging distance well and is trying to throw a catchable ball. I might actually cheer out loud if he actually overthrew a WR on a deep ball.

Honestly, those stats are pretty incredible considering how bad our OL has been this year

I was told by the rant he was no good, needed to be replaced and the offensive struggles were his fault

Back during the JJ, Lee, Harris years the rant would have given up their first born for a QB with those numbers.

Well yesterday kind of looked like those days. 133yds passing and 312 rushing.

For a moment I scanned the sidelines for a guy in a high domed white hat chewing on some grass.

Why pass when the defense cannot stop your run?

Johnson at 20/4

Bryce Young 24/3

Matt Corral 14/1

Not bad considering.

He’s still a low ceiling guy that has average arm best arm talent.

He made 2 TD throws off his back foot under duress. The first one was extremely impressive due to the fact he had a pass rusher in his face and a DB on his man and put the ball RIGHT ON THE MONEY from his back foot (ALL ARM)

Can still win championships at the college level. Football IQ is more important.

Max has exceeded what most thought he could do. He was supposed to be the backup this season.

Remember when we begged and prayed and hoped and wished that a qb could have half the numbers Max does this year?

Max’s problem is not that he makes bad decisions, he usually makes good ones.

His problem is he is wildly inaccurate and is flat bad at throwing deep balls.

despite your backhanded compliment, Max is having a good season and has a bright future. And he’s not a “limited” quarterback.

Max really gets a bad rep on here for some reason. Yeah he’s no Joe Burrow, but he’s good enough to win the SEC as a starting QB. Once again, QB is not our issue anymore.

Yep, those numbers are stellar.

I would like to see him utilize his legs a little bit more. Yesterday seemed like he did that somewhat like last years end of season Max did.

Max does need to improve on deep ball, but it’s laughable to say he’s wildly inaccurate.

Agreed. Max is a beast working through all the challenges from being thrust in as a starter right before the season, weak OLine, poor play calling, no run game to speak of (until UF came to town) and WR injuries.

If LSU fans never witnessed the greatness of burrow, we’d all be talking about “what if” max was on a better coached team etx

This is correct - I actually thought to myself at the start of that epic 4th quarter winning drive: please keep RUNNING and don’t pass! The balls to call that 4th down pass and for Max to spin off his first read and hit Jenkins exactly in stride was amazing

Max also saved the game on the 4th down goal line pass call. Bech was covered, Max had to spin around, had three defenders in his grill, and still checked down to the open guy for the win. Awesome QB play.
